DizzyD: Actually, unless you are a religious, or believe in some sort of God. There is no such thing as morals! If you admit there is such a thing as morals well then you are saying that there is such a thing called evil.

Wow... You are saying that atheists are amorals?

That's so twisted and false.

I've heard reports which suggest the vast majority of female profiles (I've heard figures saying as high as 95%) on the site were fakes. There can't have been that many affairs actually occurring if this is true.

And as has already been mentioned, why assume the site was completely populated with adulterers? It's quite possible a number of singles viewed the site as just another place to register/frequent to increase their chances of regular intimate encounters (scattergun approach).

Anyway, with the lawsuits piling up against AM, I can't see them being around much longer and the warning shots have been well and truly fired across the bows of other similar sites. I would imagine that a number of internet security firms are feeling a bit overwhelmed by demands for their services at the moment. Along with divorce lawyers...

Probably not the right word. But surely neutral on the subject of morality?

i think it is incorrect to say neutral on morality. everyone has their own sets of rules/standards they live by.

let's say if you follow the holy book and moral is set by the good book. ok ...

1. looking at a woman = committing adultery
2. wanting someone else's stuff = stealing
... the list goes on
and preachers travel around in jet planes ... just by tuning in to his/her preaching i am immoral!

so the only other way is to say ok no one achieves morality (righteousness) by those standards. thus everybody is the same, hence who are we to judge anyone.

Then you would agree that to some people adultery is immoral, and to others maybe not?

There is no absolute morality unless you are religious.

And to them what they are doing is morally right .
But to most of us its evil, regardless of religion or lack thereof.

ok to answer it properly. you are saying in the Christian Church adultery is immoral, where as outside the church it is maybe not?

well the short answer is, in the church the divorce rate is around 1:3, and many people partake in sex outside marriage see point THREE

the long answer...

i am pretty sure everybody in whatever religion they believe in, is unable to follow to perfection. the more rules you have, the more problems you get. that drives people out of religion. most people do want the best for their spouses and kids. some of them have issues with their spouses. a handful cheat for the sake of cheating, religious or not.

Come on. Its not just the church. Anybody who's partner has committed adultery will probably have the same opinion about a cheating spouse. Or do u think they will think what their spouse did was morally right?

Adultery is either morally right or its immoral. There is no grey area. Different people will see it as either.

Not sure if you married. If not, and if you are planning on getting married, maybe say this to your future wife on the big day.
Let me know how it pans out for you. And if she still thinks you a 'nice' person.

got hormones, and can't keep them under control? Well then maybe don't get married.

ok i can't find any evidence for the divorce rate ... i heard it somewhere, better retract it. no evidence whatsoever see http://www.stats.govt.nz/browse_for_stats/people_and_communities/marriages-civil-unions-and-divorces/marriage-and-divorce-in-nz.aspx

Morals are a bit dependent on the society in which they are being expressed. Since they are entirely a human construct and not a law of physics or biology, they bend and shift with the mood of the day.

A man must live by his own code, not through the approbation of strangers he will never meet and whose opinions ought to carry no weight - however the modern 'improvement' of social media and internet has encouraged every man and his dog to have an opinion on what every other man and his dog is doing, thinking, wearing, saying etc. and made it acceptable for foolish people to allow those opinions to have meaning in their lives.

It's not likely to make society better in my view.
