This should be a big press story, i feel frauded.

The most ominous sign is that their site www.nznet.co.nz has disappeared.

Try to stop that payment this month as do not think you will hear from these guys again !!!!

www.nznet.co.nz is working for me and has been for most of the day. From what I can see one or more of their old providers were still advertising their prefixes. ISPs who have direct peering relationships with their providers were/are still taking the more direct path. Once the old providers stop advertising their prefixes their site will once again be accessible to all.

I suspect their unlimited DSL plans they were offering not so long ago were not such a great idea.

Yeah, noticed that if you are a maxnet ADSL customer or in the maxnet datacenter (aka local network) you can access nznet.co.nz, this means nznet is NOW with maxnet... watch out maxnet management, you are about to lose $$$,$$$
Still no eta for when nznet comes online for the rest of the world to see again.

I hope they do come back, the unlimited plan works great for me.
I came from a country where ISPs don't cap you. So you can actually use the internet and not worry if a youtube vid is going to kill your speed for the rest of the month.

freitasm: I'd ask for people to NOT POST PERSONAL CONTACT DETAILS. It's a breach of privacy.

I have edited two posts removing contact numbers, including home number and mobile number.

You should be able to post the names of the directors though and any details they have chosen to file about themselves at the companies office. Nothing illegal about that as the info is public domain. Phone numbers may be a bit too far though...

If what the above posts all say, isn't what nznet doing considered fraud? They are going around all the DC's racking up huge debt then moving to another one straight after. I would never go with a company that does this.

Right. And they deprive their customers who pay the well for the service from any use of the Internet for now 31 hours and counting......
That is sahemful behaviour and I also fail to see why publicly available phone numbers, reprinted here, are violations of privacy.

To be fair to them not all their users are affected, just ones which are using one of their two suppliers. I'm sure there are people working hard to resolve things.

If it's not for the smaller ISPs who try mix up product offerings the big guys would happily be selling you the same services as they did 10 years ago at the same price back then.

If the contact details are already public I don't see how that's a problem either. I'm sure calling them hourly through the night will make you feel better if you're experiencing downtime and will get the message that you're annoyed across.

Also, a technical question. From telecom brodaband their website is not accessible, whereas from others it is. How is that possible ?

I'just spoke to one of the representative of NZNET and they are not not shuting down at all. If you would like to contact them, call on 0220829426. If you are DSL customer then use the following DNS settings in your router or modem.

DSL IP address: 66.246.76.21

They said that services would be back soon today. Good luck for all NZNET clients.

Temporarily NZNET is facing technical problem since 19th oct 2011, may be so we r not able to get online , even phones are not working, I tried to contact them tudy and got a direct number 0211651077.

Now, 41 hours after they went down still no Intyernet connection, no response if you phone them, no communication by email about what the problem is and the website nznet.co.nz is a dead link.
i conclude they are out of business and have stoopped my monthly payment to these folks.

switched to HD in the meantime.

I would say, get out of NZNet ASAP as they cash your money again on the 20th of the month.

This means that the average customer needs to be a GeekZone enthusiast to learn about this. In the meantime there has been no communication from NZNet, they are keen on sending emails about their payment structure, but nothing about this major event, their website is down and we are now 42 hours without any form of Internet. this is a severe violation of customer service.
i have stopped payments and am happy to switch elsewhere. i do not trust a company who switches wholesale providers on a regular basis, as I suspecft happens once more now that we have to use a different IP.

Stuff them NZNet.

I guess they are not moving anywhere, I jst visited their office at north shore about an hour ago , and they have assured me that internet will be up tody somtime,,,,, hopfully they do wat they are saying, and dont think they will move to HD, and also if there is a issue from their end, i m sure they will give some sort of compensation .

The website is up it's just not accessible for some people, which is a pain I know. I don't know why they don't list the DNS settings fix on an answerphone message, would be 10x easier but no one ever accused an internet company in NZ of being bright ;)

Nevertheless, I was affected by the outage and since changing the DNS settings the internet has worked fine.
