Were you playing on PS4 by chance?  It's got known performance issues on that.  I played on Xbox One X.  PC also can be tough depending on your hardware.  It's a very demanding game on resources.  But it's a stunner, I hope you give it another chance sometime.

PC, 1440p mostly maxed out (i7, 1080ti). No real issues with performance, just felt oddly disconnected to me.

If you can stick it out until you get a couple of your powers you might find it a bit different.  Once you get telekinesis and dash it really opens up.

Weird re Control. I loved it, controls felt ultra natural, especially as you up your skills.

the whole game to me felt floaty and unresponsive and not even in the "cinematic" way, almost like the character wasn't in any contact with the ground.

I had exactly the same issue!

I really really wanted to love this one. I enjoyed Max Payne back in the day as well as Alan Wake and this looked like such a cool setting for an enjoyable romp, but I gave it a few hours and gave up.

Loved: The setting, the lore & story, the atmosphere, the architecture

Hate: The "feel" of the controls, the weirdly dull combat and the weird juxtaposition between excellent and terrible as far as the graphics were concerned. (What the hell is with all those dead, plastic, PS2 looking faces?)

Like you I was playing on PC @ 1440p with a grunty rig.

yeah I was looking forward to this one a lot, but that terrible control feeling plus the as you say dull combat (got real sick of shooting the same generic zombie security guard for the 100th time) just dropped me out of it super quick.

Demo for Final Fantasy 7 Remake is out. You can play the first chapter, which is exactly what I'll be doing tomorrow night!

Subbed to the $1 for 3 months xbox game pass for PC, played through gears 4, 5 and now state of decay with a mate. Finished plague tale and working through metro 2033 and probably FFXV (comrades co-op too).

Definitely a solid deal, even at regular pricing or if you have an xbox to go with.

Have been replaying through GTA V on Xbox since it came to gamepass.

Almost forgotten how good that game is.
