I’ve also just purchased an edgerouter 4 on the back of your review Michael ( you should get commission). I’ve got it connected to a 16 port switch, with a netgear r8000, a ac aircube, and another netgear ap set us as APs (covers the entire house and the cave out the back)..

Very happy. My question is whether I should sign out for the controller? Any advantage for what is just a home network?

The controller is only supported with UniFi networking gear, not with the Edgerouter.

@stocksp You just need to buy some UniFi nanoHD's and you're sorted. Those consumer grade routers will be holding you back now. Then you can use the controller (with your access points).

@Kironz you have not read the first post fully. But, it is not what you're wanting. The IP you added to your Edgerouter is for my controller and not for yours and so your access points are currently showing up in my controller as pending adoption.

So I butchered dnsmasq and DHCP no longer works . My internet was dropping out and I thought it may have been some dnsmasq rules that I had set up so blew the set up away and was still having issues(I'm thinking it was just internet drop outs from Vodafone). So on uninstalling dnsmasq, I can no longer get an IP because DHCP is no longer running. I've ordered a com port cable so I can get back into my USG, factory reset doesn't seem to do much . Also thought it was bricked as it wouldn't factory reset, I found that I had to hold the reset button in while powering the device on, once it was powered on it wouldn't factory reset.

Thought I'd post this so if someone was dumb enough to do the same they would think twice .

Odd thing though, AP and Switch are fine but no longer appear in the Controller.

Scrap that last post of mine!

I successfully migrated the server tonight from Vultr to Sitehost (https://sitehost.nz) who are now sponsoring the VM for this controller. Honestly, kudos to them! They're a provider I trust and use, and offer excellent service. They've kindly given me more resources then I had on Vultr and since it is now hosted in NZ things should a little bit faster!

This does mean an IP change. The UniFi controller is accessible over both IPv4 and IPv6.
IPv4: 223.165.66.193
IPv6: 2403:7000:8000:b00::d9

All URL's remain the same.

Due to the change of IP you may need to reboot devices if they're showing as offline in the controller else quickly login to them and run set-inform http://gzunifi.murfy.nz:8080/inform

@alexingram Sorry a little late to the party here. NZ only I'm afraid as the server has limited international bandwidth.

In other news I have disabled TLS 1.0 / 1.1 as well as insecure ciphers on the UniFi controller. This does mean going forward you need to use a modern browser and modern mobile operating system (which I am pretty sure was the requirement anyway).

Hi all - Over the weekend an upgrade to UniFi v6.0.8 has been done on the controller. This unfortunately broke a few sites WiFi setups. I've been through all of them and fixed what I found but if you've got WiFi problems please PM me and I'll look through your settings.

I'm having some issues with my wifi clients connectivity (mainly HomePods on 2.4ghz losing connection here and there) and there are a bunch of anomalies being reported on the controller dashboard.

High DNS latency for client XXX

High TCP latency for client XXX

Client XXX is having trouble resolving a domain name to an IP address (DNS Timeout).

I've just rebooted my AP to see if that helps but was wondering if anybody knows what might be causing this?

I have a pair of Unifi AP-AC_lites and have been having a lot of sudden drop outs with them both. Looking on Ubiquiti's support forum I see that a lot of people have been having similar frustrations. The accepted solution is to downgrade to older firmware. The problem I have now is that I can not see where on the Cloud Controller I can stop automatic upgrades. If I remember right, I use to have that turned off, but that is no longer the case. I do much appreciate that you are hosting this Controller software Michael. Thanks.

What version is the bad firmware version? (just so I know if I've moved to it)
