Hey guys,

Have a job in the system at present with some strange quirks.. wonder if any of you have seen and resolved it (and subsequently I can and then close the calls) before yourselves.

When doing the wizard to add devices, the phone ring will give the standard NZ ring-ring. But once configured you get oddball ringing, sporadic at best from actual incoming triggered calls. And quite often a long ring, then a blip.. then a gap.. and more ring.

I've looked at the aussie support forums and spotted someone mentioning similar, and had success with the regional options while others tried and had no luck. Last time I messed with those I managed to kill other functionality and reset so not touched it as part of my current diagnosing.

Its not just a Uniden thing, I put a standard ph directly to FON1 earlier to eliminate the possibility of the 7-way panel causing issues with 3 devices attached and it still gives intl long ring.

The other quirk happens to be regarding call waiting. It DID go (up until a recent gateway change made to fix no outgoing calls) but now some time after this change flash has decided to either work, or other 50% of the time drop both calls :) Now this I suspect might be related to said gateway or other fancy toggle. No option to adjust the flash timeout on the phones sadly.

Thoughts and ideas? Do I have another hack at resetting the regional options to something like UK or AU and re-create the STUN details...

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Is your premises phone wiring impacting your broadband performance? (very technical)

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

Hi Oblivian

A couple of questions, I presume you are using a Fritzbox? and was it configured by us? there are some specific settings that go into the Fritz box that are configured into the boxes before we ship them to you.

Thanks,
TheRalph

Yeah its a Fritz and Ahh yes... it was configured before it was sent.. to an extent :)

It arrived before shifting location, so configured/personalised the local LAN settings a bit to match my working setup beforehand (while on DSL) to add my pinholes etc and to experience the awesome that is. Then when it was needed to be used after moving to UFB it had the old wont-change-line-mode bug that needed a factory reset. Little did I know the save-config option I had performed before doing so, decided to save a page that simply said 'configuration download failure' instead of the actual config file when I went to restore it *facepalm* So I had to re-add most the configuration details manually again afterward.

But since then its had a few remote sessions from the HD to manually change to the latest voice server and check it over. Interestingly however whatever remote password he configured at the time, is different to one on file. As the latest agent on the case has asked to add another default remote account for them to get on.

All good, I'll leave it to the agent to deal to in the morning if it's a little more involved and needs a config hack vs GUI. Unless there's a GUI option you know about I can adjust to try in the meantime.
