Wondering if anyone has seen this problem before where Outlook 2016 ignores the reply-to email header?

Contact email from the clients website sets the: from, to and reply-to headers

To: sales@*********.com
From: Website <sales@*********.com>
Reply-To: Someone <someone@*********.com>

When the recipient hits reply on the email in Outlook 2016 the reply is being populated with the From address instead of the Reply-To address.

I can't see any obvious settings that control this behavior in Oulook and also couldn't replicate the problem on a different machine with a fresh Outlook install.

Any ideas?

Had a problem with an older version of Outlook and the Reply-To.

People were replying to my From address, even though I filled in my Reply-To address I wanted recipients to reply to.

Found that if I logged into my Outlook account using my alias address (rather than my primary Outlook login) then the Reply-To address was correctly used.

Recipients then correctly replied to the Reply-To I wanted.

Unfortunately in this case it isn't a problem with email sent from Outlook to other people (or with Office 365 or outlook.com).

This user's Outlook 2016 is populating the To: field with the From: address (instead of the Reply-To address) when they reply to a recieved email.

Must be a setting or bug in Outlook 2016 somewhere.

Are you using exchange online/exchange OR dirty old pop/imap?

If exchange: Is the reply to address an alias in exchange, or is it a whole 'nother domain?

Is Office 2016 fully patched? Could be a bug in the factory release or introduced in a recent patch.

It's definitely a problem with the client itself (Outlook 2016) but only that user's client. I couldn't replicate it in on another pc/install. The same email from their website is fine in gmail and other clients like Thunderbird so the email headers are correct.

In the end I told them to contact Microsoft Office support, see what happens.
