I just got the Redmi Note 3 with the 5.5" screen. Before it said "2Degrees 4G" and "Vodafone".  After doing the Miui update it now says Vodafone 3G.

Can anyone confirm if this phone supports 2 slots as 3G?  Or is the second slot still only 2G?

Cheers

Wrong thread mate, this is for Meizu, not Xiaomi. :)

But for reference, just tested the Redmi Note 3 Special Edition & it does indeed support 3G in SIM2, so all go for 2x Spark/Skinny SIMs if need be.

New update for M3 Note - 5.1.12.0G

This'll be the last Flyme 5 update before Flyme 6 hits. Same procedure as usual to upgrade - download the file to the phone (Or to PC and transfer to phone over USB), open the stock Files app, find the update.zip and tap it to upgrade.

Would it be wise to upgrade while rooted, I presume not because you get rid of root by flashing.

When is the next Meizu iteration due. I was looking at getting a Xiaomi Mi5 but the Mi6 is due in March, so considering an M3s in between, but if an M4s is about to pop out Id wait for that too.

Does anyone know what hardware buttons sequence to reset to factory?

I want to reset my handset so another Geekzone user can borrow it but it asks for the Flyme account password. I don't have it (and strangely not in my LastPass). I tried going to the Flyme website but it's all in Chinese and I didn't see an option to switch to English to get a password reset.

[UPDATE] Never mind. Power + Volume Up work, just have to hold a bit longer. Still would be good to know about the Flyme website though.

Successor to M3s hasn't been announced yet, but it'll be March at the earliest before new models hit NZ.

Recommend checking out the Redmi Note 3 Special Edition if you don't mind the jump to 5.5", Snapdragon 650 + Band 28 4G makes it crazy good.

Most of them don't have NFC because China's all about QR codes + WeChat and/or Alipay. The ones that do should be good to go if they pass Google's certification suite/don't have out-of-the-box root access.

The English site is flymeos.com, password reset for Meizu accounts is here.

Will the new phone have Gorilla Glass? My husband has just broken the screen again on his M3 and is not impressed. Needs a phone with a tough case and currently PB Tech don't offer these.

When is the phone coming?Thanks.

Gorilla Glass as a bit harder than glass but it will break - I had my Huawei Mate 9 screen shatter even before the model was in retail stores. Gorilla glass is great against scratches but not shatter-proof...

Each iteration of it gets better, for example 4 was a lot more likely to survive against 1m drops, and v5 is supposed to be shoulder height 80% of the time

Thanks good tip, but im not keen on the notes. too big for me, I actually like my 4" nokia so even the 5.2" will be crazy big to me haha. I might just hold onto the nokia for now and wait until March April, nearly jumped on the Mi5 now, it really is incredible power for the money, despite the camera not being galaxy s7 quality.

I hope PBtech get the full Xiaomi range not just the note.

I love the Meizus for price.

I feel thse devices eventually will open the conscience of the trendy buyer who follows everyone else for the latest $1200 device, sure some might need it, but I feel a lot would be surprised by what a $3-400 phone delivers.

Cheers.

My focus is squarely on devices which support all NZ networks - especially band 28 4G wherever possible - which is currently limited to the Redmi Note 3 Special Edition out of Xiaomi's lineup (and technically the Mi Note 2, but that doesn't have a global ROM yet). Plus the Mi Mix because there's nothing else like it. Xiaomi get bonus points for having some of the best long-term device support in the industry, with punctual Google security updates on the MIUI developer builds. As more band 28 SKUs appear globally, they'll appear in NZ.

I should quite like to bring in the Redmi 4 Prime though. Exceptional battery life with Snapdragon 625, a 4100mAh battery, and a 5" screen. If I was looking for a smaller screen and didn't want an iPhone SE or the Xperia X Compact, that would be the one I'd go for.

That said, the rumoured "M5s" should be pretty solid.
