otari: FWIW, a rep just told me that Telecom will be selling the HSPA only variant. But as always, take that with a grain of salt.

What's that suppose to mean, HSPA???
As I've pre-ordered my One from Telecom.................

That means no LTE/4G on the Telecom version (and possibly the Noel Leeming version??). The rep just sent a follow up email saying "from the specs we have seen, the HTC One is not a 4G phone." So they just have the 3G version, made for countries without LTE networks. Not a big deal now, but in 6 months when Telecom launches 4G and Voda expands 4G to WLG and CHC, the Telecom version of the One will be outdated. Guess I'll be ordering from overseas.

Maybe because Telecom don't have a 4G network yet and they don't want people swapping to Voda service so they can utilize the 4G capabilities on the One? I'm just guessing here. I don't think it's a particularly smart plan, considering Telecom say they will have 4G up and running in a few months.

EDIT: Or maybe it's a cost thing, I don't know.

As it stands now, it doesn't say anything about 4G on their page. Doesn't look very promising.

Is that why the Vodafone version is $150 more expensive coz it's 4g and telecom version isn't....
That's a rip off then, but if u order from overseas then 4G frequency doesn't match the one in NZ right??????

ya i just saw the telecom page as well.. hmm...i think i had a chat with the one of the telecom reps when i was ordering the phone and asked them what are the different frequencies of LTE that is available on the phone. and to cut things short, i just asked can i use this phone on the LTE network of vodafone, they said yes should be able to.

I won't post a name, but it was an online telecom support rep who said in a chat that it wouldn't be 4G, then followed up with an email to me stating the same thing. As always, take any pre-launch info with a grain of salt. But it doesn't say anything about 4G on the Telecom One page, and HTC is definitely making an HSPA-only variant of the One for Asia, which is seems will be the version Telecom sells.

Could it be a case of the L920 and iPhone 5 where Telecom just disables it via softare until they launch their own 4G network later in the year?

Well I guess it's a wait and see game. If it is not 4G enabled, then I am gonna look elsewhere. Shame as considering I pre-ordered with Noel Leeming for such an awesome price.

u and me both..

actually, i swear it used to say 4G before. i remember this because i did have a conversation with a telecom rep. I was trying to go through my emails and see if the conversation was emailed to me or not. I couldnt find it.

maybe they changed it and are not getting the 4G version anymore?

Would you go and get the S4 instead?

Hell no, I am sick of the plastic and cheap feel of the Galaxy devices. I can't wait to say good bye to my Note 1.

My option B is to buy it off a parallel importer = more waiting until the prices drop to a reasonable level. I may grab one over in Aussie, as option C.

The European version from Clove supports LTE on the 1800mhz band, so it should work on Voda 4G (and Telecom once their 4G network is live).
