I really think Telecom would be stupid to sell a 3G only device considering they are launching their 4G network later this year.

From what I have read 2 months back. Telecom did show me a specs sheet detailing that it is 4G compatible. However, they may have changed their minds. Fingers crossed they aren't that short sighted.

From what I can tell, the hardware will be exactly the same for all Australasian carriers.
The difference may be the firmware.

TNZ 4G is still about 6 months away, so it's a fair while to wait.
If they're crippling the firmware for the meanwhile I guess you could flash it - or test out the dual-carrier capability.
I have to say - you've done pretty well with that Easter deal.

Just asked Telecom via online chat about whether it's 4G compatible:

"We don't have access to that info just yet sorry, but stay tuned as this is due to be released early May."

Buying a Tesla? Use my Tesla referral link and we both get discounts and credits.

DHL/Fedex vs royal mail or another untracked. no choice in my opinion, Stuff that hits nzpost or nz in general without a tracking number I find often disappears. Sure its somewhere abouts but ....

Order from Clove.co.uk, minus the Tax (VAT) with the exchange rate is good. if customes pings you they simply phone, you pay over phone, and its released. Tracking is precise and i ordered last thursday and it was here Tuesday afternoon. I could check (frequently lol) exactly where it was in the world. the support from them is good and honest in my experience as well.

as for the phone, well its an absolute absolute joy to use. could do with a few improvements around blinkfeed content, and facebook 'no sync with contacts' bug still loads the gallery with facebook pics from your friends. those will still get fixed eventually and there are always roms to load..

.. better get to the phone. think it needs some customising lol.

Thanks for sharing your experience. What is the build quality like on yours? The infamous gap issue at the top of the handset has been seen a fair bit. How does yours stack up?

From my understanding, HSPA+ technically classifies as LTE, but is not true 4g connection.

AT&T in America advertise their HSPA+ connection as LTE but compared to other 4g networks (e.g. verizon, sprint), its speed is nowhere near 4g standard.
Might want to clarify this with Telecom before purchasing. Most people will be using this phone for more than a year.

Absolutely mint. no build issues anywhere on it. I can't produce the micro gap. so thats good lol.

The feel is very very good. Stopped counting the number of iPhone users who have ooohh and aahh'd the phone and its due to the alm manufacturing. Also having just compared it with my HTC One X it feels significantly thinner which i believe the sharper edging contributes nicely to.

My understqanding is that Oz only had top tier HDSPA+ netowrks and had not yet completed a full rollout of 4g G so they were calaling theri HDSPA "LTE" and Apple were advertising it as such

Mine has the gap, but its not terrible.

Its amazing how many iphone users are over their phones and when they play with this it highlights it more.
