My phone will no longer let me use the dialler, when i click on the "phone" icon in the bottom right it give me a message saying "the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"

I can still use all my programmed phone numbers just cant use the manual dialler.

Does anyone know who to fix this or am I going to have to default the phone :-( although I may try a upgrade before a default if i have to go down this path.

have kind of sorted it by installing "dialler one" and replacing the phone Icon with that.

I see Onecosmic has released RC3 of his ICS ROM today, and initial feedback is mostly positive. Something to try this weeked!

Typing this from team hacksungs cm9. Things are so smooth, these guys have done a wicked job. It's a shame that viber and swype aren't working on ics properly. Will go back to MIUI tomorrow, but won't be long before it's ics as a daily I reckon! Perhaps MIUI ICS!

Hi guys i hope there are still some experts floating around with Galaxy S's still.

I flashed my Galaxy S around 8 months ago or so to Darky's Gingerbread. I used Odin and followed a tutorial. At the time i did quite a lot of research. However most of which has escaped my mind.

My issue is after the last few months the phone has become very unresponsive and lagy regardless of whether lagfix is on or not.

Is there a issue i can resolve or am i better just to choose a new ROM. If i am better just to pick a new one should i wait for a stable build of ICS?

Just after some advice.

Here is a screenshot of whats installed.

If you are a fan of the darky ROM's you could flash the newest release (10.4.2) which is based on XXJW1. There is a newer stock rom (XXJVU) which seems very fast. Grab a darky base rom and flash it using ODIN with repartitioning beforehand to make sure it's not filesystem issues. Since it's a darky rom, I'm sure you could flash this new version straight over the version you are running now (just make sure you have a nandroid backup!).

I had a weekend of flashing (tried XXJVU, Galaxian JVU, CM9 build 13, Miui V4), Galaxian JVU and CM9 were both very fast, I couldn't believe how fast the browser was. If I was going to stick with a Samsung Rom, then I would recommend you try that. CM9 is nice,but didn't fully support a few things I like to use - ones I encountered being FB contact sync, Viber and Swype.

You could also just do a factory wipe and only restore the apps you actually use :-)

So need to flash a fresh ROM on my fiances Galaxy S to see if I can fix some erratic behaviours.

Been a LOOOONG time since I flashed the i9000 - what are the currently favoured ROMs? Ideally ICS, if there are any that are stable enough to be daily drivers, but a fully mature GB ROM with all the usual custom goodness would also be perfectly acceptable.

Seems like Onecosmic is the the best ICS one? Anyone here using it?

As for GB, is Darky's still a good option, or something better aobut there?

^i've been using onecosmic's RC3 build and am extremely impressed with it. it's smoother than any gingerbread rom i had ever tried, and battery life is superb. not sure what else you could ask of a rom ;P especially of one that's not even the final version. looking forward to good things from the final build!

I've been using Onecosmic RC3 for about a week, and RC2.1 for a week or two before that. I now have it running pretty smoothly and no issues day to day. I'm enjoying it, performance and looks wise. I had a few issues I needed to sort out:

1) GPS not working (replaced networklocation.apk)
2) Smart dialling didn't work, didn't show contacts matching (using TouchPal dialler instead)
3) Had some random reboots (increased the CPU voltage by 25mV at 1Ghz and 800MHz)
4) Samsung Exchange Email, Office App and Swype not available, non Samsung ROM (using paid versions I bought the last time I used CM7)

I believe RC3.1 has fixed most if not all of the first three issues. I should add that the initial RC2.1 installation was a bit unsettling, had to do multiple wipes and reflashes from CWM before it booted up. Seems to be a common issue, worth reading up on that aspect. The upgrade to RC3 was painless.

I (briefly) tried Onecosmic's ICS rom last weekend, and was fairly impressed; the main reason I went back was I couldn't get the FaceBook integration with Contacts working. I'm keeping a close eye on this ROM, however, as it was looking very good.

What I went back to was DarkyRom v10.4.x. This is quite good, but there are a number of issues as can be seen from the very quick progression from v10.4 to 10.4.1 to 10.4.2; and judging by some of the comments on their forums, I wouldn't be too surprised to see 10.4.3 soon. Today I've switched to the Semaphore Kernel on the 10.4.2 ROM to try and address a couple of minor issues I was seeing.

I think that if I keep having issues with 10.4.2 I'd be more likely to go back to Onecosmic's ICS than anything else; although I'd probably try StockPlus ICS (based on Onecosmic with a few additional bits) first.

+1 Put Darky's 10.4.2 on last night. Very fast. Has anyone switched from Darkys to the OneCosmic ICS ROM? I attempted to move from darkys to OneCosmic and I got stuck in a boot loop which seemed to be caused by BusyBox (maybe)

The ICS upgrade I did on the weekend glitched initially; it looked like it replaced the recovery mode, which then couldn't find the rest of the upgrade to continue, and that was boot looping.

From memory, I think I removed the battery, manually rebooted back into recovery mode (volup+home+power) , and then reflashed again quite successfully by choosing the "install zip from sdcard" option. Obviously, I'd previously loaded the ICS .zip file on my sdcard...

There is some implication on the internet (sorry, forget exactly where I read this) that the DarkCore kernel causes issues when flashing to ICS.

I've read the same things about darkcore + ICS too. Interesting that someone else has managed to do it...Honestly the reason why I havn't tried again as the upgrade path seemed to be: Install Stock ROM. Root. Install CWM, Flash ICS which I'm a little too lazy to do atm :)

....and that's pretty much what I did to get back from ICS to Gingerbread; I had taken a Nandroid backup before going forward, but I needed to reflash back an older CWM recovery to be able read it; so I more-or-less did the first three steps by flashing something "appropriate" (sorry to be vague, but this was on my PC at home, and I forget exactly what I had lying around). It was a CWM-included something, as all I did was flash "something" via ODIN, and then boot into CWM and recover my Nandroid backup. If anyone really wants the gory details, I'll have to look at my PC when I get home...
