As for the natural & plant based comments stated above, lets take a look at the back of my Mother can sitting beside me (unopened before you think I'm biased :-p).
Water - Natural Sucrose - Plant based. Food Acids - Natural (maybe not in this concentration, but natural anyway) Taurine - Natural (removed from its original environment, but natural) Glucuronolactone - Natural (I'd need to check my notes for its source) Colours - Not quite sure on this one off the top of my head. Preservative - basically just an acid, natural or not? Can't remember off the top of my head. Very low concentration use though. Flavour - Something that doesn't need to be listed on the panel is its source, basically you have 3 categories, Natural (molecule is shaped like an X), NI (nature identical, Molecule is shaped like an X but comes about through an artificial means) and Artificial (Molecule is shaped like a Y but tastes like an X). Inositol - Natural (removed from its original environment, but natural I'm pretty sure, but am too lazy to look it up) Vitamins - Natural Gurana - Plant based.
Hopefully this can all be backed up by internet sources.
I would like to compare this to my Mocachino but the chocolate powder jar has been thrown out. It would be interesting to compare though.
I drink a lot of coffee during the day sometimes far to much that i end up quite hypo so to speak but its a good tool for the brain imo especially if you need to get something done in limited time and your feeling tired or no go, just down a few coffees.
I don;t drink coffee with sugar just milk so i like to think coffee is harmless just a legal way to get that lift we all need during the day.
On another forum a guy told me that coffee is the number one cause of gall stones? Hes had two gall stone operations and is adamant coffee is the cause of it. I think hes wrong the number one cause of gall stones is fatty foods and lack of water I always have a couple of glasses of water before i start my day then coffee does the rest, at end of the day i down a couple glasses of water. But yeah i could not go day per day without my coffee i love the stuff.

I wake up in the morning and have a good breakfast, some fruit for morning tea, lunch and usually an apple or similar type of fruit for afternoon tea. No matter what I do during the day I always have plenty of energy for the task at hand. I don't think I've ever needed a 'pick me up' in the form of an energy drink or coffee.
I have worked some fairly diverse jobs including very physically demanding ones (furniture moving, warehouse management).
In my mind coffee and energy drinks are simply a waste of money. Coffee shops charge far too much for the most traded substance on the planet.
Coffee is probably best compared with coke. Only stimulant is caffeine. And yes, there is roughly the same amount in a cup of coffee as there is in a cup of coke.
And for anyone who thinks coffee is ok or good for you consider the following:
Caffeine is a stimulant, as such it raises your heart rate. For example, if you have a resting heart rate of 80, pop a couple of double espresso's in an afternoon (not uncommon from what I've seen) then your heart rate is likely to be around 100. Interestingly it actually decreases the heart rate of children exercising, so don't give kids anything with caffeine!
Your kidneys become more active (increasing stress on them) and use more water from your body, so you dehydrate faster. And then you're thirsty, so you have another coffee.
Caffeine also reduces the amount of dopamine released by the brain which affects the pleasure centers of the brain, and can lead to increased depression and anxiety.
It increases blood sugar levels, so if you're a diabetic, not good. Same if you suffer from any bowel disorders as it increases the acidic response in the stomach.
And for those that think it increases you metabolism, no studies have shown this to be the case.
Saying that, I'm a regular consumer of caffeinated beverages of all descriptions!
Can also chuck in the mix a situation called hypo glycemia which is becoming more common these days with our highly processed carby foods and softdrink sugar levels etc.
It's the opposite of Diabetes, so you produce too much insulin. Basically your body over reacts to the presense of sugar, produces too much insulin which lowers the bodies blood sugar levels. Symptoms of too low blood sugar are tiredness, difficulty concentrating and a general shakyness, nervousness etc etc. - All things you'd normally grab an energy drink or a coke for!, only with hypo glycemia you'll start the cycle again for the worse. sugar --> excessive insulin --> want for more sugar --> excessive insulin --> etc.
Yeah, I'm personally not a fan of any non diet softdrink at all... (Though I believe some studies have shown your body reacts in advance in a very similar way at the presence of sugar or artifical sweetner anyway).
