Did a blind-scan, didn't pick up any SBS channels alas, just the standard Freeview set and what looks to be a few unwatchable data channels too? I'm based in Auckland.

manually change one of the transponders in the installation menu (NOT 12456 or 12483)

12648 MHz
Vertical
12600 S/R

I added a transponder on Optus D1 with the details as above, think I did it all correctly. When I tried to do a scan though it didn't pick up any extra channels.

Any chance you have an LNB that only provides a single polarity? SBS is V; others are H.
Any other satellite box (like sky) connected to the LNB through a splitter? That could be holding the LNB in "H" mode.

Not sure about that really, we don't have any other boxes connected to the dish at the moment. I don't know much about the dish itself, it was here when we moved in and looks to be at least a couple of years old, I'm pretty sure the last tenants were setup for MySky as there are newish looking twin cables connected to the dish (one currently un-used).
