Just recently, I've tried to watch both live and catch up TV on the skyGO website. When I press play, it says that I've exceeded the maximum number of devices, and that I can manage these by pressing 'manage'.

By pressing manage, it brings a list of devices that are linked to my account. All of them are familiar, and none were watching anything at the same time as I was trying to. In fact, it has my device (and same version number) in the list, but for some reason, it persists that it's a new device.

I tried ringing up Sky to help me fix it, and he could see I was trying to access it, but he couldn't understand why it wasn't working. We tried restarting my computer, and trying different browsers. In the end, he couldn't help, so we just left it.

Two days since that call, I still have these issues. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar? If there's any SKY people that read this, is it possible to wipe my devices list, so I can re-add them? I noticed that when it was possible to remove and add a device (a month since the last time that was done), it worked fine after 're-registering' my device, but obviously now it's gone back to it's old ways. I can't remove and re-add until the second of next month.

Would like to know if this is a common problem, or just me.

Thanks.

It's weird. My sister watched sky go on her macbook on chrome and it has that device, and I can watch it on my macbook on chrome or safari and it doesn't count as an extra device. so that's cool for us.

Can confirm browser updates will stop it work. Biggest and most stupid design flaw I've seen. Completely ruined my watching the football world cup.

Something else they do stupid:

"Oops, You can only remove 1 SKY GO device every 30 days.
You need to wait until 17-09-2014 10:36 before you can swap out a device again."

It means the two devices I use with updated browsers (that no longer work) can't be both changed because you only do one per month.

Yep, browser updates block the site from working, stupid stupid rule. Just trying to watch the golf at work.  And having to wait 30 days, come on sky, no wonder people look for alternate methods of viewing stuff.

updated browsers don't make it break for me. the devices registered on mine are my iPhone, my iPad and my sisters Mac Chrome version 31.0.1650.63. And then I can watch it fine on my macbook using Version 36.0.1985.143.

What happens then if you go ahead and upgrade your sisters chrome version?

I think netflix gets around this by only locking mobile/game devices it ignores browser access

no idea, but it probably has been updated at some point since it was registered on skygo.
