I'll be curious to know how many of you will be calling today or tomorrow or sometime this week to cancel your sky subscription.

I'll also be interested to see what, if any, inventive you are offered to stay.

I'd be done if I hadn't managed to half my bill with Sky recently. To me it now presents acceptable value, though with no end of year tour for the AB's to watch, I am feeling a little sad.

Nope, live sport in HD sure beats dodgy feeds.

The ABs are not an issue for me. I have been wanting to cancel Sky for a long time but I'm not the one who pays for it.

when I cancelled recently, as soon as I mentioned Netflix/Hulu etc they made absolutely no attempt to retain me as a customer whatsoever

no discount, no free months, nothing

good riddance

The only reason I still have sky is because I am too lazy to fit/too poor to afford a UHF aerial to pickup freeview :P

That said the day of reckoning is fast approaching!!

On another note I was not surprised to know that at some ISP the traffic to Neon is abysmally low. As in while thousands are browsing/streaming Netflix and Hulu you can count Neon on the hundreds...

Cancelled our 2 sky accounts last week as I'd purchased a couple of Sale priced Satbox-plus's from the Warehouse.

Takes them a while to actually disconnect & close the account. Still have to drop the boxes off in town, 50km away.

I'd been meaning to cancel for a while now, just inertia - and the wife's couple of favourite channels - holding me back.

Wasn't offered any worthwhile deals to stay. She just mentioned I couldn't re-sign under any special deals for 90 days (or something..)

Watched the games on Prime & the net anyway.

I am intending to. Holding off for RWC, may as well hold off for MotoGP and F1 to end which is weeks away now.

I don't see a hoard cancelling. They could have cancelled last week, last month, last year. Those that got Sky for RWC will cancel in months. So I don't really see much churn going on, no more than usual, and that is low. Sky is quite sticky for many. Ive read some here cancel as the content is $%%^&  Why did you still have it??

Should streaming get more advertising air time, and should Sky lower prices that is what I will watch for over coming weeks. I pay $100, Basic, Sport, MySkyHDi, HD.  If that went to $49 as the deal we see, great, I'd keep it. If it went to $75, yeah, keep it

I cancelled due to the shear number of unnecessary ad brakes. (Breaking a 30 minute programme 3 times simply makes the programme unwatachable / unenjoyable. Judge Judy for example has interruptions about every 7 to 8 minutes - on average). I fully understand that those channels that SKY relay from overseas will have breaks already in them that SKY can do nothing about - but that only applies to a few channels.

Add to that the poor picture quality (SD at best on the standard SKY channels - I mean SD on doco channels when you know they are available in HD to overseas viewers).

SKY's programmes are often years behind when they air overseas.

For me, it was never about the price, SKY simply ruined my viewing pleasure, when the didn't have to. Yes, I did use MYSKY and skip over ads, but that only works if you plan ahead and pre-record. Can't do that if you are simply channel surfing and find a programme randomly of interest.

Been a couple of weeks now since watching anything on SKY, and I have no regrets at all.

I would take up SKY again if they provided pleasurable viewing, and that means not breaking programmes to play ads when they don't have to, and giving the clearest picture quality possible.

I suspect SKY have the approach that more channels are better. Simply not so, I would much much prefer 10 decent HD channels, rather than 100 un-watachable / un-enjoyable channels!

It's about quality, not quantity!

No, Freeview has been destroyed. Sky still has the only true Sports coverage and in HD. I have Netflix as well so fully covered with Vodafone TV (Sky option) and Netflix

I won't be cancelling until I can get equivalent quality sports for a similar price, I'm still disappointed with Premier League Pass.  Tried Netflix and it didn't do much for me really.

Won't cancel completely, but will now revisit the need for sport and movies. The other thing that may retain my interest is the on-demand offering. Hopefully I won't be expected to pay more, because that's not going to happen!
