Hi everyone,

I've just been given my sis' phone which is on the Telecom network (so 027), thing is i need a "security code" (which i have no idea what it is), so i rang up Telecom last night and they say i can take it to a Telecom dealer/shop who will unlock it for free, then the girl at the shop says i have to take it to their repair shop and pay for it ($22.80) and will take 40 mins. Has anyone else been in this situation before? (or can explain about security codes) Cheers, Tmarz

Dead right, if you dont know the code on a Nokia, you cant unlock it with out the "service" programming software. That is why it is a security code. The default on a Nokia is 12345 and most shops dont change it, but if your sister has, you will need to get the code from her or send it in to have it unlocked.

zacfox, a previous post on this thread was deleted because it had such codes. It's our policy to filter these, because they may not work well in all phones, or the user may mistype something. Please do not post these codes here.

The Nokia 2280 will need to go away for repair, it is not unloclkable unless you have the 5 digit security code.

Sad but true.

Shop around for a dealer who will charge the least to provide this service.
Unfortunately Telecom sometimes say a service will be free, but the independantly owned dealers have to cover the cost of administration for the job (which often takes longer than the job itself)

im not going to put the code up as im not allowed to but i used it and was able to unlock my security code on the phone as for telecom id say if they were more onto it then theyed be able to help as the phone isnt faulty and doesnt need sevicing

Entering an incorrect code does not harm the phone and/or software, it was more likely removed because a telecom rep requested you do so, so that the code is not common knowledge. :)
