Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices can synchronise some information with Windows 98/2000/XP.
By using a technology/program called ActiveSync it is possible to synchronise PIM contents (Calendar, Contact, Tasks, Inbox) between a Windows Mobile device and a desktop/laptop running Windows 98/2000/XP. Data files in a special folder are also synchronised through ActiveSync between the mobile device and your computer.
Windows Mobile includes devices like Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone Edition and Smartphone.
ActiveSync and Microsoft Outlook are supplied on a CD with your device. You first install the software needed then plug the cable and connect the mobile device. Next, the computer will recognise a new device and ask if you want to create a "partnership". This partnership will control the flow of information between your computer and device.
