Greetings,

recently in the last 2 weeks. vodafone has done something to block dualsim china mobiles. or clones.

i have a dual sim china fone with 2 imei #'s

my fone

up until 2 weeks ago all was working both @ the same time.
the fone is not locked. and i have not changed firmwares or imei's or anything.
its a reset to factory settings china mobile touch clone.

now all a sudden i get "emergency" calls only on the VF sim. while the 2degree's one is active.

i go to network setup.

tried putting each on different settings. "automatic / manual" ive changed it to have primary is 53001 to priority 1 for VF is sim 1 and the 2d one as priority 2.

i think the problem is vodafone is blocking any handset that is running 2degree's also

because i can close slot 1 or 2 on the fone and instantly the vodafone works.
if i disable the vodafone sim. the 2 degree's one works.

if i get the vodafone working. and open slot 2. and restart my fone. they both work for a few seconds some times. then one of them will go to "emergency" calls only. usually the VF sim. but depends if one of them is set to manual network selection. it will go to "SELECT NETWORK" mode. and waits.

this is really anoying.
ive talked to vodafone.
they said. yes lets me look. the card was closed for some reason only after 4 months of having the sim. they re enabled the sim on there network and gave me 5$ for the hassle.

now nothing is changed. they said they are unable to help me.
i dont think they are blocking the imei #'s because alone both sims work fine.
and in other fones both sims work fine 2.

any ideas as to why there is a war between having both competitors running on 1 fone?

i think vodafone has devised a system that can tell similarity and location of IMEI codes that are from the same handsets and closes' its self if its already recieving another broadcast.

eg. they are either over-riding each other for #1

im not sure.
this is really retarded.
and wasting alot of my time having to choose which sim 2 use and disabling one while i use the other.

anyone with some info or ideas . i would be much appreciative.

Interesting. About 6 months ago they seemed to block the Telecom / Samsung W531 from accessing their network..

Just a thought, Many of these cheap chinese phones use the same imei's in different phones so it is a possibility that someone has reported one stolen and vodafone has blocked the imei from it's network and you are unlucky enough to have the same imei.

Based upon what you've said there I'd assume it's a handset issue and nothing to do with VF.

Hi Ashyr

I can tell you straight out Vodafone NZ has done nothing to block this device on the network and why a CSR gave you $5 is beyond me.

If a device is blocked by a carrier its blocked full stop

The only devices that are blocked are blacklisted handsets

by the sounds of it, it should be a handset issue
if you used the phone more than a year, then it is definitely a handset issue
a friend told me those phones only lasts for a year

I honestly have no idea why people expect these handsets to be of any quality

They are %100 rubbish

Its easier to blame the carrier than actually think its a handset fault

the fone is like not even 2 months old.
i got it cause it had wifi/camera/tv/radio etc. 8gb mem. etc
for relatively cheap. although im bumbed out now android is even cheaper than before.

however.

no the fone has 2 imei numbers. both are similar but the last 2 digits are different. and checking the firmware they are the right imei's also. no they havnt been blocked on the network. i made sure by ringing vodafone. but they seem to think that i was de-activated. on that sim. yet it works fine in other fones. so because it was aparently "de activated" and the sim is only a few months old 2. they couldnt understand it. so gave me 1 dollar credit. then wiped the IOU function and allowed me to get another 5$. lol.

anyway. the problem is vodafone doesnt like 2degrees on the same fone. they fight over priorities. ive noticed on this fone. only one of the SIMS. because its dual and both standby etc. they effectively work @ the same time. u choose which you want to use for specific apps/functions. however. the 2nd sim. when u goto the options for it. in network settings is missing the option to bind a network manually or add from list of providers from the fones firmware. u can only do that to the sim in slot 1.
so ive fiddled and tryed i cant get vodafone to stay in priority 1 because both sims go between. avaible to emergency calls only mode. and going from automatic from manual. resets the "added from list" priority 1 or 2. list i just made.

its frustraiting. this was all working fine for 1 month. now the last 2 weeks its been nightmare. wasting my batteries trying to get both to work. reseting phone settings. etc.

nothing works. its definatly something that vodafone and 2degree's have something going on with the ability for me to register both working on this fone @ once. perhaps i thought like i said. there fighting over priority 1 network gsm number 53001 for VF and the 2dgrees one.

strange huh!.

I disagree entirely. I don't believe it has anything to do with the networks and everything to do with the handset.

Virtually all of those cheap dual SIM phones are all pieces of junk, and at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

As already advised its nothing to do with the 2 carriers the handset you have purchased is junk just cause its new means nothing its just new junk in 12 months it will be old junk.

Kinda strange John that this fone worked fine for  6 months then one day it came back "Emergency only" on all  Voda SIMs I tried it on (2D worked fine) and someone else here complained about the same issue and you fobbed them off .  I believe that the fone type is sent to the carrier as a part of the log in info  when turned on.  That's how the likes of AT&T in the US know that you smartfone doesn't have a data plan and block them access..  I guess Vodafone doesn't like the idea of duel network fones having access to their network.
