Hi
My sister has recently come back from the US and wants to still be able to get Netflix via the older Roku device she has brought over with her.. So she still has her full working Netflix account. I subscribed to Unblock-US for her, and then had her configure he Apple computer with the specified DNS as per the instructions in http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/291525. It worked and she still can view Netflix. Then she wanted via her older model Roku to view Netflix through her TV.
So to get the Roku device to work (its an older Roku)....I started to help her setup over the phone using these instructions http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/323038. The Roku was fully re-setup.
The Router is a Netcom N300, which the ISP provider owns/ maintains, so they updated the Primary and secondary DNS are as below.
Primary = 111.118.175.56
Secondary = 118.127.33.48
So now the router had the Unblock-US specified DNS in the router config. I had the ISP provider to stop and restart and checked that the DNS entries above are still there. And they were.
But the Roku device does not seem to be using the DNS specified in the Netcom router, e.g. I no longer see the Netflix app due to the region it now believe it is in NZ, i.e. Netfix has disappeared from the Channel store. And on the Web site for Roku, I can't add it the Channel (Netflix) due to the region issue (Netflix is not valid to the NZ region)
Now on my sister Apple computer you can still put in the DNS entries (for a MAC/IOS) into its Network (DNS setup).......which tells me th Unblock-US DNS works fine for the Apple device....i.e can watch Netflix.
Within the Netcom Router, the ISP provider specifies the primary and secondary DNS... (as above)
My question has anyone set up accessing Netflix via an older Roku device where Unblock-US DNS are configured in a NetComm N300 Router and it has worked. This older roku does not allow you to specify the DNS in the device you need to change the routers DNS.
With this combination how do you get the ability for the Roku to have the Netflix app in its channel store.
Any help any one can give, would be so much appreciated
Cheers
Peter
