Hello!

I have tried Unotelly for a week and am now trying Unblock-Us.

Unotelly's gold package, which provides all the anonymity of VPN services on top of their fast smart-DNS service seems great. The downside is that Unotelly keeps time stamp logs and they also refuse to answer important questions (like which jurisdiction they operate under, etc.).
Definitely not as good as the privacy offered by Private Internet Access, for example.

My idea was therefore to use Unblock-Us and couple it with a Private Internet Access subscription.

I've looked into it a little and it seems that I wouldn't be able to use them both at the same time. Since my preferred solution would be to setup Unblock-Us DNS at router level, I would have to reset the router settings to default every time I wanted to use Private Internet Access's VPN.

I was wondering if anyone has experience using these services (or similar services) together, which setup they chose and how they got around the difficulties they may have encountered.

For example, would it work to set up Unblock-Us on devices we're planning to stream from and the VPN service on the machine where it's needed?

Would anyone recommend other services to achieve the same result?

By the way, we are on Mac OSX for our computer, IOS for all other devices, except Panasonic Viera and home theatre. We also recently started to use an Apple TV. Our ISP is Vodafone.

Thanks a lot!

I have Unblockus set up at the router level and use a VPN at times and it works fine without having to ever reset the dns back to the ISP's default dns settings.

I currently use IronSocket for DNS proxy to access geo-blocked content. They have an AU DNS server if you want a quicker DNS request. My router queries the DNS proxy and all devices are set up via DHCP to query the router. I'm not a fan of using a VPN on a DNS proxy to access geo-blocked content, because it kinda defeats the purpose in terms of using a direct connection for optimal speed. I guess some US hosted servers are blocked from Hulu, or if you wanted to use a non-US vpn server.

IronSocket only offers VPN+DNS. Cactus VPN is another good one and they offer DNS separately for $4NZD. VPNSecure.Me also doesn't log anything and offer Smarter DNS.

Would you mind telling me which VPN service you use?

i've just looked them up and found out not only do they log all your activity when you use their service (time in and out, IPs visited etc.) but they also keep it for weeks, so not really good from a privacy protection perspective.

Thanks for the answer though. It seems that Private Internet Access has a no-log policy and offer a cheaper subscription too. They tell me I can use it in conjunction with Unotelly/Unblock-US. I'd still like to hear from people who have tried it before :)
