I've been on getflix for over 2 years now and (until recently) have found them to provide a pretty decent service however as we all know netflix are doing their best to drive foreign paying customers away (for some weird reason) and we are getting a lot of downtime while the boffins of the above mentioned companies duel it out over the keyboards and cans of redbull.

I was just wondering if the other service providers are experiencing as much downtime as we are here with getflix, it seems to be like a weekly occurrence (at least).

The other niggly thing that didn't impress me too much was when I made a comment on their FB page along the lines of "hey getflix how about giving your loyal customers some credit for all the downtime - we're paying for a service and you're not providing it" or words to that effect. They not only deleted my comment but the whole thread it was in and they blocked me. Now, I'm not going to cry over it because I hardly use FB anyway but my comment didn't contravene any rules, there was no bad language and I didn't question anyones parentage.

So given their attitude towards long standing customers, just wondering how other providers are handling this whole blocking thing and is the grass any greener over your way?

I haven't kept any stats but it's been days over numerous occurrences. It's not the money it's the principle of the thing, them saying yep we have a problem, that thing you paid for we can't give it to you so here's a couple bucks refund or a free month or whatever - it's called customer service and loyalty reward. You involved with getflix?

This is why I hate facebook. It can give a false impression. I often see  company facebook pages that show that there are comments, but when you load them, none appear, which I suspect means that they are being deleted.

I use Getflix myself and find it good for other sites, and never had a complaint about them. It seem really reliable, however I don't use it for Netflix. But wouldn't be surprised if other services weren't also having the same problem. It must be tough for them.

Nope not involved with Getflix other than being a customer .

I am unsure when you have been having your problems .

If you follow them on twitter they update you on any problems and when they have fixed the problem, I also see people complaining about wanting compensation for any down time .

My personal experince with Getflix has been very favourable , yes there has been down time , but not enough for me to seek compensation .

At least they haven't gone and closed down like some other providers have , you would ready have some complaining going on FB then :)

Matt and Marlin - thanks for your input.

Matt: you say you don't use them for netflix; do you use someone else or not worry about netflix? (I agree about FB - I only joined up recently for the buy/sell part of it - think trademe's days are limited).

Marlin: Yes I get the twitter feed but did notice that when they did the NZ server upgrade there was no forewarning - I lost netflix and hulu and when I checked twitter feed there was nothing (until later, I forget when exactly but maybe the next day).

I think my biggest beef is not that they have down time but they are stamping out anyone that questions their performance.... very big brotherish, and that is why I choose to look for alternatives.

It's been said before but the way this is heading everyone will head back to "the other way" of getting TV/movies.

I don't use Getflix but you're just going to have to accept the fact that unblockers have downtime sometimes.

IMO asking for a credit is kindof the opposite of what we should be doing. I'd rather pay significantly more for more reliable service. Companies like DNS4ME stopped because it wasn't worth the time and cost any more so don't expect them to be happy when customers ask for a credit.

The solution that works for me is to just have more than one and switch as needed when one is having problems.

While I'd agree that the censorship that companies may engage in on forums like FB are often inappropriate, and it would have been better that Getflix provide a straight-up response rather than deleting your post, I think you're on a hiding for nothing regarding compensation for "down time" on being able to access Netflix.

I'm not aware of any SLA or similar that these operations provide their customers, assuring them of x% uptime or similar; rather, I've always seen it as a situation where the golden weather of easy access could be lost at any point, so made the most of it while it lasted.

Personally, I've found Getflix really quick to deal with issues I've had in the past, but this problem is clearly something far more difficult to manage, and one that all such services are grappling with (and generally, it seems, failing to get around on anything but a temporary basis). I've now had enough of the game of whack-a-mole, so have removed all the fixed route stuff out of the router and set Netflix in the Getflix settings to "off", and am finding enough content on the local Netflix to more than keep us entertained.

Of course, I'm still going to get my value from the "life-time" Getflix sub from BBC access - provided that continues

If anybody else has been blocked by getflix on their FB page this is why:

Hello ,

Thank you for your email.

Currently Netflix personal and competitors are monitoring our social media. We are seeing so many false information provided by the competitors and Netflix personal to confuse our users.

We are working with 3rd party security firm to monitoring our social media channels to identify these users to block. Also if you have provided any competitor on site, if you have provided false information (by mistake), if you have used bad language, your account also might have blocked.

I will inform the appropriate 3rd party security firm but we can not guarantee an unblock very soon or ever at the moment.

Please let me know if there is anything further I can do to help :)

Please provide feedback on my performance with the link at the end of this email.

Thank You!

So a legit customer asks for credit for the downtime, and they get marked as a liar ? Harsh :D
