Have had Netflix subscription for a month or so now, the wife is watching the US tv series "The 100". Netflix NZ has the first 3 seasons available, and this year in the US the 4th season was aired. I was wondering what is netflix's NZ policy for streaming the most recent seasons of their tv series and how long a wait for the next season to be aired.

Netflix's own content is smartly and worldwide.

However I suspect other ones come down to rights holders in the country and costs.

The earlier stuff comes out, the more you pay to pick it up/show it. Which is why only primetime stuff is same-day US and the rest is junked onto on-demand platform.

Note - the last ship is showing again now ondemand only, and the 100 rights are primarily held by TVNZ and season 4 was already recently shown - its only shown ondemand or stupid timeslot to fill in and possibly now holding up until a time of their licence has lapsed for netflix to add it

3 has the rights to a number of top shows (Prison Break etc) but did not purchase the actual eps. Stopping others from doing so, and noone was able to legally watch.

Same reason our catalogue differs to australia

Depends. The Mist series appeared the other day. It only finished in the US a few weeks back.

IIRC with Season 3 of The 100, it appeared on Netflix about the time that Season 4 started airing in the US, so I would guess that Season 4 may turn up some time next year when Season 5 starts airing.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I don't watch Netflix myself, the wife does, and she's started watching "The Mist". I'm sure she'll start watching other shows that'll take her interest so there will be plenty to keep her going until "The 100" next season comes on.
