i have seen a car loaded up with cameras.. cant remember what the name was on the side but it was map related, and today i saw a google car with a light on a big pole on top and some sort of gps? thingy on the roof..

anyone know any more?

Google street view coming to NZ I'd say, no other reason they'd have for cruising around with a GPS, the Google street maps for NZ are very good already as far as I'm aware.

Always thought it kind of weird actually, how lil' old NZ has such good support in Google maps, particularly in regards it's geocoding (address -> co-ordinates), we can hardly be worth the expenditure I'd have thought.  A bit higher res and better/more consistent national coverage for the aerial/satellite shots wouldn't go a miss though.

Yes, Street View is coming to NZ.  There was an article in some publication that I read over Christmas about it - I don't recall which though (either Herald or Dom Post I guess).

Mostly focusing on the potential privacy violations and the odd photos that were found in the US.
