With the recent advent of freeview in New Zealand available from the OPTUS D1 satellite, I purchased an Avermedia DVB-S Pro satellite rx card.

Using the Avermedia application, I can get all the channels on the OPTUS D1 satellite. However, getting these channels in MCE has been a problem, which i have not been able to solve.

This card has additional virtual drivers that make the dvb-s card appear in MCE as a DVB-T card - called "universal DVB". This is a German product that works with a range of cards, including the Avermedia DVB-s Pro card. Unfortunately the default satellites setup are German, which, although good my sky dish may be, has no hope of picking these up!

I found the registry settings for the German satellites, and modified the settings to those on lingsat. I have also modified the LNB settings to those relevant to my Sky dish.

When I "scan for services" in MCE after these changes, I come up with zip.

Has anyone got this card working in MCE? Am i missing something - do you have to get an EPG before you can scan for services? Are there any other registry settings I should be tweaking?
