Hi.

We have an older 46" TV in our rental property in the Coromandel. For reasons I can't be bothered explaining, we keep it in an owners locker, and a smaller TV is available for Guests.

Lugging this TV up the stairs each time we stay is back breaking, so I am keen to find one that is much lighter.

I don't mind second hand if it's relatively new.

I don't need smart features, and whilst freeview HD would be considered a benefit, it's not a priority.

I need at least 3 HDMI Inputs, ideally one on the side.

I have owned a lot of Sony, but I am not tied to this brand in this instance, though picture quality is a priority so I wouldn't consider Veon or any of those other "seconds" brands.

I am not in a massive rush. I'd prefer to keep my spend under $800

Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure you'll find any of the current generation LCD/LED edge lit TV's lightweight and easy enough to move around. But my guess is you'll struggle to find what you're looking for at that budget.

If PQ is your main concern, then the problem is that the best PQ set's of any brand are:

A - The higher tier models (ie more expensive)

and

B - Only available in the larger (55"+) sizes (ie more expensive)

And then there's also that 'first tier' brands are more expensive than the 'second tier' brands.

That said, (and without knowing what your current TV is), if you're looking for something that is probably as good as, (or maybe better than) the set you currently have, and if you could stretch the budget just a little further, then perhaps something like this:

FreeviewHD is standard these days and so are smart features for anything other than the budget models. If you're outside of FreeviewHD coverage then maybe consider one of the Samsung or Panasonic models with inbuilt satellite tuner.

OR.....have something mounted that retracts into a ceiling cavity at the touch of a button when you want to put it away :)

Mighty Ape have it for the same price.

If you could live with an HDMI switch, there are cheaper alternatives out there.

LG 43" Full HD - $487

• 8.1kg (with stand)
• 2 HDMI ports

Thanks. According to specs the TV I have now is 30KG so I'd expect 12KG to be a dawdle to lift :)
