Okery dokery my geeky goodness pals, there is a possibility we may be off to the UK for a few years (not entirely work related) in the near future and being a geek part of my planning process is working out the tech.

The question I have is, "will my Hauppauge HVR-2200, Win-150 or MCE-500 cards (all NZ new) work and do anything for me in the UK?"

Can anyone shed any light here? Thanks peeps.

They should all work just as they do in NZ, except it will more than likely work better with WMC, ie set region to UK, enter post code, download tuning information, down load guide, tune TV services....great assign guide channels to TV stations.

I would suggest actually just going with the digital side of things when I was there over 18 months ago I was able to tune 69 channels on freeview (tv and radio) and it worked great. ohhh how I long for 69 channels on Freeview :-)

BTW I was using a Nova-T-500 dual digital tuner with WMC with no problems.

@browned cool dude thanks for that. I actually got an email from Hauppauge yesterday confirming that all my cards should work just fine in the UK - as long as the reception whereever we end up is good enough.

I had forgotten that there were so many dead spots in the S.E of England.

But 69 channels - god no! So much on and so much less to watch.

If you go my wife and I are jealous :-)

We have been home, settled into new mortgage, and expecting our first little one in January......but we just said each other last night that we both miss the UK and would love to go back.

Reception is not a problem. Just get the Televes Dat75 1.8m aerial and a signal booster. We lived in Cambridge for 1.5 years and with the Televes in the loft (not allowed on the roof) we got cystal clear freeview even in the winter.
