Have standard sky and Freeview decoders running off same dish OK (got rid of normal TV antenna's about 4 years ago). Before i invest (heavily) in upgrading whole house's wiring to HDMI, and buying new receiver that handles HDMI, and paying Sky an extra $600 + $10 per month more for HD channels (!),..... I thought I'd borrow and try a friends new My Sky HD decoder first (just running HDMI cables across the carpet from decoder location in cupboard to lounge) to see what actual difference HD from Sky would make before giving anyone my hard earnt cash..

Seemed like a good plan EXCEPT... is there some trick to making My Sky HD decoder work off standard (existing) dish/coax cabling/LNB? On My Sky HD decoder the (poor) 'Signal' light comes on, but when I plug back into old sky decoder, and/or freeview decoder, signal is there and OK?.... is there some sort of code or LNB replacement needed? (and if a new LNB will that mean I can't have Freeview going as well?) My plan B is just to cancel Sky altogether and stick with Freeview!

Sky will install a new LNB with Mysky HDi. It has a dual coax cable or something.

Change the LNB LO frequency, the old one is 11300, the new one 10750.

Hi Cyril

I have sort of the same issue. I am trying to run a MySky box off a dish and LNB set up for the old standard Sky box. It doesn't work of course, but do I understand from your post that I just need to change the frequency on the MySky to 11300? Is it that simple? If so, how? There is no obvious access to the LNB frequency via the setup menu.

Cheers
