I recently switched to Skinny from Vodafone and bought $16 Big Value combo, thinking I was going to get unlimited Skinny-to-Skinny minutes at least for a while - I was attracted mostly to this unlimited skinny minutes component as I had been a quite heavy BestMate-addon user.

Today, my mate sent me a photo of Skinny brochure (taken at Stationery Warehouse) that says "unlimited skinny-to-skinny minutes until Feb 2015".

I went back to Skinny official website and looked every where for terms of this component of $16 Combo but I found nothing that says it's available only until Feb 2015.

Do you think the note on this particular brochure applies only to those who purchased Skinny SIM from S. Warehouse, or just that this sort of thing is standard practice in general and I've been too naive to expect unlimited thing to last for a while?

Anyway, I have been very annoyed about this.

I believe that you get a new bundle of Skinny to Skinny  minutes every time your topup / rollover occurs.  This may be a special in that if you buy a $16 plan today you SK to SK minutes will last till end of February..

This was a significant selling point, and why I am (was?) planning on bringing other family members over to Skinny once their Vodafone credit dries up.

According to their T&C, they don't need to give you more than one month notice of this change, however continuing to sell their services while listing this as a major selling point, without disclosing the fact that this is (now) time-limited, would be a highly questionable move.

As for the possible explanation provided by old3eyes, I highly doubt that is the case, given it is clearly labelled as a "Monthly Prepay Combo".

I'm rather sick of all these changes to plans. With the rise of smart phones, phone companies have used the need for even trivial amounts of data to force people on to combos, and they're all playing follow-the-leader and doing the same things. Skinny was unique in offering unlimited Skinny to Skinny calling (I believe). I couldn't care less if they added carryover data or not, but given they have decided to do so, they've got to find some way to earn more by forcing people who want unlimited minutes on to an even more expensive plan. I for one won't be paying. My mobile bill ($16 per month) is already excessive compared to what I was paying 14 years ago.

As much as Vodafone has annoyed me over the years, the one good thing I can say about them is they have always been upfront with when promotions expire, even continuing some for years beyond their original stated expiration, and other than rudely increasing the cost of international text messages by 50%, they've never forced me on to a new plan or made significant changes to any plans.

The Skinny Website has been updated to indicate unlimited Skinny to Skinny minutes applies if bought before 28 February.

That implies this feature will continue for those who remain on this combo, and is of course not what the previously posted image indicates. Clicking "Find out more" no longer gives additional information on this feature. I assume the site is being updated to clarify this.

In the meantime, could someone from Skinny please clarify?

It now appears unlimited Skinny-to-Skinny minutes will remain on as long as my $16 combo stays active - terms are now clearly stated in the drop-down box on the combo description page.

I hope it stays this way for a while because my partner and I migrated to Skinny for this particular feature.

It looks like unlimited Skinny to Skinny minutes are here to stay, at least for now. There is no longer any mention of this being time limited that I could see on the site.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the $40 "Get in by March!" unlimited plan, now that 2degrees has a significantly better offer at $49. Hopefully we'll see Skinny match those features at $40 or less.

Hi

We are always reviewing what Combos and Add-ons to offer.  We've listened to the feedback and will now keep Skinny to Skinny calling on the $16 Combo.

Thanks

Paul

The T&C still says it's ending February although perhaps you know that (I understand getting these sort of things changed can sometimes take a while given the various parties that may need to be involved).

I'm glad they kept that! It's why we went Skinny in the first place and the reason we buy that combo! I wish it were on the nine dollar one.
