Hey everyone thought I would post here as skinnys tech support is absolutely useless,

I signed up to skinnys 4g fixed wireless, got connected on Wednesday and been nothing but a headach since getting it connected

Constantly dropping out, well the connection itself stays physically connected (all lights on modem on etc) however the Internet itself just 'stalls' seems to be worse at night.. For example last night at 9:30 the connection refused to work for about half hour, resetting /rebooting modem does nothing

This had been happening since Wednesday and extremely bad at night

I ran a few ping tests while the connection stalls google.com skinny etc.. Results all come back as 4packets sent 4 received 0 lost 4(100%packet loss)

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? It's dropping out ALOT like every half hour, I personally am putting it down to congestion? However I could be wrong

When these drop outs occur I tether with my 2 degrees phone and this works fine abs never drops out

Also the speed is shocking my mobile tethered can pull around 6.5meg a second and skinny modem max I have got is 3 Meg a second

Been on the chat line several times to skinny and keep getting the usual run around, plug in via ethernet, remove sim, reboot modem, place near window etc.. No difference at all

Something is horribly wrong, sent them Screenshots of the ping tests when the connection stalls and they have no idea

I'll post up some Screenshots when I get home.. Is there anything else I can do to trouble shoot this?

Cheers all

Do you have an external aerial?

Do you know which direction the serving tower is located?

Have you tried a different window ledge?

I helped a friend improve their internet connection by putting their modem wifi router on a different window ledge.

Are you far from the tower? And if you are using the B315 modem are you getting 3 signal bars on the R/H side of the unit? When I use the ethernet cable I get a big speed boost even if the wifi adapter is only 70cm from the modem. Other thoughts would be it is school holidays and maybe too many kids on their phones all the time. If possible try moving it around your house & do this early in the morning before the teenagers get out of bed & get on their phones.

Hi. We had this problem on spark. Everything worked fine on install. 3 months in it started dropping. Did it at many different times. Modem lights never wavered even when not connected.
Would reset the connection from web interface which would solve.
Spark technical was like a dog with a bone esp once i went through what i had done (tried cable, different pc, different operating system, hard/factory reset etc etc).
We tried rabbit ears (waste of time), external antenna was slower and we tried new modem. I even got hold of the optus modems which should work (and do with a data sim card) but are imei locked out of wireless broadband.
In summary nothing worked. Then all of a sudden it started working and never caused a problem since. Not a solution but there is hope!
