Received an email from Vodafone this morning containing the following.
Hello
We want to tell you about some important changes that we are making to the Vodafone broadband and home phone plans. As you may have seen recently reported in the media, there have been changes in the industry to the costs of delivering broadband and home phone services for all providers in New Zealand. These cost changes affect the conditions that all providers operate under and unfortunately our prices will need to change to reflect these new conditions.
From 1 February 2015, the monthly fee for your plan will increase by $4 per month. However, because you are only part way through your contract term, we will apply a monthly credit of $4 to your account until the end of your current contract term, so you will not have an extra charge during that time.
If you use more than the included data in your plan, the price of any extra data will be $2 per GB (or part thereof) from 1 February 2015. This only applies to customers going over their broadband plan allowance, and for these customers we recommend our Unlimited Broadband data and homephone plans where you never have to worry about the amount of data that you use.
No matter what you’re doing online, with Unlimited Broadband data you’ll never have to miss out again. To check out our latest range of Broadband plans and pricing, see vodafone.co.nz/pricechanges

Now given that I'm on cable I find this unpalatable as the Chorus changes have no impact at all on cable customers. We shouldn't have to suffer a price increase and assuming they're covering costs on the DSL side then this will actually just be profit for Vodafone, for nothing.
The other part of that email, the increase in overage charges is also crazy - a 100% increase in price, taking it beyond what we used to pay as TelstraClear ($3/2GB). You can't blame that on Chorus either as it's upstream-related!
What say you savages?
