Hi All,

Long time reader, first time poster :)

My Vodafone mobile is somewhat an extension of my body now, so I certainly notice when something goes wrong.
Over the last few days (since maybe Thursday - Friday) last week, I've had issues sending text messages while at home, and have received some very delayed messages from other people.

I live in the Auckland CBD (down by the waterfront), and am just wondering if other Vodafone customers in that area have experienced the same thing ?

When I have a problem sending, my phone will try to send the message for ages, and then eventually timeout with a 'Message Sending Failed' error.
If I re-try sending that message multiple times it will eventually go through.
These are short plain text message (not MMS).

Checking my phone it seems to always show full strength signal, as well as 3G if that is relevant.

Is it possible there is an issue with my phone as opposed to the Vodafone network ?
I must confess I haven't yet rung anyone to investigate.

Cheers!

I have a Nokia 6234

If I am connected to the 3G network, does it use that to send text messages as well (I'm a little bit noob when it comes to 2G/3G)
Could that be the difference ?

Having said that tonight it seems to be working ok, although I haven't sent too many texts yet.

that's correct.

If you are continuing to get grief from it try take it off 3G and revert to using 2G.
I think in your phone its like Settings -> Phone -> Network -> GSM
If your still having issues its probably your phone.

Hey thanks for your help!
That option is exactly where you thought it was by the way :)

I just tried that, and it definitely seems much quicker to send messages.
Maybe my friends are typing quicker now or something, but I seem to be receiving replies faster as well.

I might leave it like that permanently

Any ideas what I lose access to with 3G disabled ?
