Ive just purchased a ringtone, and gosh $4.99 for a 2.1 sec tune? What a total rip off, and to make matters worse it plays the same 2.1 sec twice. Im sure this topic has been brought up before, but schucks man, Vodafone makes enough money from all their other services, surely if they are going to charge that price, they can at least let you have the whole song like other places? At least telecom's ringtones are 3.8 secounds

I know it will sound rough, but...

Markets are driven by offer and demand. They offer - you buy it or not. You knew beforehand the cost was $4.99. It's like buying a BMW and then complain of the price.

Vodafone, like any other company, will charge the maximum the market will pay - if you buy you are just telling then it's all right to charge that much.

You should have just passed it and used whatever is in your phone. And let them know "I didn't buy because it was expensive".

But every time someone buys a ringtone, Vodafone goes laughing to the bank and gets another reason to sell it for that price.

What type of phone do you have?

Why not just download one of the thousands available free off the web or even make your own? It's pretty easy to do. I can't see why anyone would want to pay any amount of money to any telco for something that you can get for free with very little effort.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately I am very green when it comes to whats availible etc. I didnt even know that I could get free downloads. I will look into this. And yes I will not be doing that again. Novelty has worn off. So, can you suggest any sites please? Oh and my phone is not a flash one its a sharp GX15 well I think thats what it is. Ok, thx both of you for your replies. And any sites would be great. Cheers.

First thing you wil need if you don't have one is a data cable like this one:

Then do a google search for gx15 free ring tones and you will have what you need.

One or two ringtones is often cheaper and FAR easier than buying and setting up a data cable etc.

Something people need to realise is that ringtone != entire music track.

Operator provided ringtones are a convenience item with high margin. Great for occasional use - i.e. change your ringtone twice a year and do it in 30 seconds from anywhere rather than learn how to do it yourself for "free" with high WAP charges, or the purchase of a data cable.

Thing I loved about the Motorolla v3x is that it came with a data cable and ringtone making software - the best ive ever used too!!
