Just loaded my old (BellSouth would you believe) SIM card into my new 6230.

Any incoming calls from numbers in my phonebook (contacts) just show as numbers. For instance my "Home" number is set in my SIM as "+64 4 xxx yyyy". If I dial my cell from there it just displays on the 6230 as "04 xxx yyyy". I tried changing the SIM number to "04 xxx yyyy" - didn't work. I tried transferring the phonebook from SIM to phone memory didn't work.

Anyone know what the answer is? TIA

If i was relying on something as cheap and fragile (but important) like a sim card, i would say upgrading to a new sim could be your answer?

JohnR? Any thoughts on this?

Your lucky your Bellsouth SIM card works!!!

As Disenchanted has said an upgrade of your SIM card should fix this :)

Possibly, although the SIM works fine in my old phone (Ericsson t68i). And, as I've moved the data into the phone's memory, shouldn't the flakiness or not of the old card be largely irrelevant to the look-up problem?

BOTOH a colleague who has also been upgraded to a 6230 can't even get the phone to read his old BellSouth card. He gets an "Insert SIM Card" message when he turns the new phone on. (Again, it works fine in an older device).

Might be a stupid question: Are you sure your phone is set to read the right memory - most new phones only read the SIM or the phone memory or memory card - not all 3 at the same time.
Could be the reason why the name is not matched to the number.
