I purchased the modem while working in Oz 12mths ago and have just found out that it has been deactivated because there was no activity for 6mths (my fault for not reading the small print). Is it able to be used in NZ if I get a sim card here? Telstra Australia don't appear to want to answer the question for me. If locked can I get it unlocked here. Thanks for any help.

I think that all mobile phones and mobile phone devices sold in AU are network locked.. someone will correct me if I'm wrong. So unless you can have someone "make it work" then you might be out of luck. Probably doesn't help that it's been deactivated.

Odds are it's SIM locked to Telstra. Unlocking data cards isn't quite as simple as phones.

Just buy a new XT one from Harvey Norman, most are still selling them for $30 incl a new SIM and $30 airtime.
