I just switched to open VFX so I can test some borrowed equipment and see if my Linksys AG310 router really is dying and tide me over while Linksys decides what to do about it.

Now have a borrowed Linksys SPA2102 SIP adapter running behind an ex-Telecom D-Link DSL-302G DSL router.
The SPA2102 is in bridge mode for now ( I'm not using its router so I can swap it out easily when its owner wants it back).
Between the information on this forum (thanks http://www.geekzone.co.nz/sbiddle), google, the device's syslog, and the asterisk config information provided by WxC when I switched accounts, I got it mostly working for my single voice line. Calling in was fine right away but I couldn't call out the first few days. Solved that today by setting SIP Remote-Party ID to NO

Problem now is I can't receive any calls and I don't remember changing anything else important.

According to the VFX portal my SIP registration is my phone number @10.64.1.50:5060. Is this private IP address part of the problem? I was expecting something @pan.wxnz.net I have no idea where this private IP comes from but I suppose there is no need for it to be public if WxC are taking care of connecting it to the PSTN?

I have guessed so much of the SPA2102 configuration that I'd really like to know I got it right before looking again at the router or bugging the VFX helpdesk to check their end is still ok. The SPA2102 config appears way more detailed than asterisk...
Is anyone out the in a position to supply this information or some generic information beyond what's required for asterisk?
I appreciate that WxC would rather provision all the supported Linksys hardware themselves so wouldn't go posting information from them here if requested not to.

Now that I know how the Linksys provisioning works, and ended up borrowing a supported device to test, I suppose they could have provisioned any number of Linksys devices for me to use. Isn't hindsight great?

If you've used my Linksys config there should only be around 5 settings you need to edit

User ID, Password, AuthID to yes, AuthID and proxy. The proxy should be set to pan.wxnz.net.

Thanks Steve,

I had started from your config, and re-loaded it again last night but no joy. I will take it all back to defaults and relaud again later as I don't remember everything I changed initially to get outbound calls to work.

Should I be worried about these on the syslog? SPA1202 has the xnet DNS servers listed in its WAN config.

Jul 18 12:18:24 192.168.10.11 RSE_DEBUG: reference domain:pan.wxnz.net

Jul 18 12:18:29 192.168.10.11 RSE_DEBUG: last unref for domain pan.wxnz.net

(192.168.10.11 is the SPA2102) I can "fix" this by using 58.28.20.150 in place of the proxy pan.wxnz.net but it doesn't the problem of not receiving calls and will "break" if the IP address changes.

No ideas really. There are only the 5 settings above are pretty much all you need to configure.

Sometimes XNet get the model number wrong, or the MAC address, or something else. Contact them to double-check it.

Thanks for your help. I have not had much time at home to look at this but since last post I have set the SPA1202 to factory defaults, then re-loaded sbiddle's linksys config, re-entered the settings above. It couldn't make or receive calls.

Changing SIP Remote Party ID from YES (default) to NO again allows me to make outgoing calls.

I now have the DSL302G in "bridged" mode so no longer relying on the port forwarding DSL302G but this didn't help.

According to its manuals I can't use the DSL302G as a true bridge as this would require a PPPoE connection to Xnet.

So now its time to call Xnet and see what they can check from their end.

Update:

Helpdesk didn't see anything wrong but did switch on voicemail again, which must have gotten turned off when my account was switched to openVfX.

I found some more logging features in the ATA and I now see its registration data. The Contact: field contains the IP address of the ATA which doesn't seem correct since this IP is "hidden" behind NAT.

Now I'm looking for what could be wrong in my SPA1202 configuration to cause this.

Fixed the registration field above by enabling the following advanced features:
NAT Support Parameters
Handle VIA received:        Handle VIA rport:
Insert VIA received:        Insert VIA rport:
Substitute VIA Addr:        Send Resp To Src Port:

Still get the RSE_DEBUG: unref domain, pan.wxnz.net error and no incoming calls.

Now, for the experts out there, with the SIP debug info added and keep-alive messages for NAT syslogs looks like the following apart from the italics:

Jul 25 10:19:17 192.168.10.250
Jul 25 10:19:17 192.168.10.250

So I assume that there is still a NAT problem somewhere, and probably my end?

Thanks maverick. It worked.

Thank you all who contributed above. maverick actually PM'd me early on in this thread but I'm new on this forum and the animated mail notification thingy has been scrolled off the top of my browser window the whole time until I noticed it yesterday.
