Hi, my keyboard is typing 2 for k, 3 for L, - for ;, 0 for m, and so on for a few keys in that area. it is a laptop and I am using an external keyboard now. What could be the reason for this? I haven't spilled anything on it. I am using Windows 7.

Possibily faulty, or you are using the wrong keyboard setting in windows. Use a bootable linux USB key to see if it still occurs, or you maybe able to test it in the bios by typing something in.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know what you're talking about re. linux. For entering the BIOS do you know how to get it in? When I restart my computer there are no options for it, just the VAIO logo then windows starts. I have tried to press escape when the logo shows up but no other options appear.

Make sure NUMLOCK is not active. NUMLOCK will allow you to use the keyboard as a numeric keypad.

Depending on the model you might have to press F1 or F2 when you boot.
