My son has moved into a house in Hamilton with flatmates. They don't want a phone line connection, just internet. Who is the best/cheapest provider of wireless internet in Hamilton without phone line provision?

Why wireless or do you mean they need WIFI modem?

So they want naked broadband?

I am not very knowledgeable about these things, but yes - wireless within the house. Typical students, they will want to use their laptops in their rooms and rather than cable to each room I would rather have a wireless modem.

How that connects to the internet I am not bothered. In our own office we use EOL - satellite. But again I don't want the cost of putting up a dish.

The previous owners of the house will have had a telephone, it is central Hamilton so I am assuming that cable connection would be easy enough.

Just because they don't want a phone line, don't restrict your search to only deals that don't include them. Sometimes deals including phone lines are better than those that don't.
E.g. Slingshot do 30gb of naked dsl (no phone line) for 80 bucks, but Vodafone do 30gb with a phone line for 75 bucks. Telecom, telstraclear, and orcon have very similar deals.
If they want lots of data (likely for a student household) then 100-120 bucks should get you massive data caps more than you are likely to use.

We have Vodafone naked DSL. 60GB for $65/month. And we get free MySky, but that depends on whether they're going to be paying for Sky or not. The only catch is someone in the house has to have an on account Vodafone mobile.

If they're students, they might want one of the unlimited plans from Orcon or Slingshot. They'll complain about the speeds, but no worries about who's been using up all the data!

(Or a SNAP ~500GB naked DSL plan or Orcon 1TB plan)

You might be missing the point here. In a flatshare, it is worth paying extra for Naked DSL because then you do not have to worry about one of the flatties running up a huge bill calling back home.

possible, although that can be fairly easily solved by simply not plugging in a phone.

......and if you cant trust flatmates to not plug a phone in after agreeing not to, then you probably have bigger problems than a phone bill.
