Hi, I'm a french guy and i'm posting here because I dream to come in nz , I think the help I'll get here will be more valuable :) I'm an IT student , and I don't know what to do...

I'm beginning the last year of my bachelor , and I'd like to know what to do next (I'm really stressed about that).

During my last year I have to do an internship in a company and work in a project, I found one based on the java language, is it good ? In Belgium , degrees are really important, so I don't know what to do, i'm a little bit stressed about outsourcing (for example), but I'd like to work as soon as possible ( and making a master degree in Management after the work, in a night school, to be Project manager :) , for example ) .

Here, everybody say that I should continue, but I don't know if i have the capacities ( and if it's really necessary ?) It's not easy to have a food representation of working, that's why i'm posting this post ^^

By the way, I'm wondering, what kind of certification should I make ? The price of the certifications are really interesting during the studies ^^' I'm afraid to regret :(

PS: I diddn't use Google Traduction (to evaluate my english), did you understand my post ? :x I really want to come in nz and to live my life there, but with all of my doubts it seems so far O.o Have you got some tips for me ? Thanks :)

I can offer you my late father's words to me when I was 17 or so, some 30 years ago, when I told him I wanted to go travelling instead of going up to University:

"I don't care if you go and spend 10 years selling deck chairs on Bondi Beach AFTER you have finished your degree because once you have it, they can't take it away from you and you can always go back to it later in life if you need to."

Hi !

Thanks for your help and repplies :) . In fact, I don't want to stop my bachelor degree (I misspoke), I just wanna know what to do after it :) I'm really concerned about my future because we only live once, I don't want to regret :X

In a map New Zealand is the opposite of Belgium and it's really hard to take good decisions , having a Bachelor Degree is enough to have a good career ? I am afraid to be "stucked" in a job if i want to progress in the hierarchy (for example :p) .

That's why I'm wondering if I should make a master in management in a night school ( because the experience is important in IT I don't want to loose years of experience ^^) , and what kind of certification should I make ^^'

A degree is only a foot in the door. It doesn't matter whether you have a Bachelor or Masters.

How your career goes depends on what you do after that.

Whether you want to work in NZ or Belgium depends on what you value, and only you can answer that. But coming to NZ is not a life sentence, and neither is staying in Belgium. You can always change your mind.

A degree is pretty much essential to get into IT, especially for a foreigner. Java is widely used, as is .Net. You need to work on your English too, your post was quite difficult to read and understand, both because of using incorrect words and poor punctuation.

Hey,

You will also find in NZ that most companies value experience over qualifications. So yes, your degree is still important but having work experience will make it easier for you to find a job.

So doing a Java internship wouldn't be a bad idea as it would give you some experience.

You also have to think about Visa, etc.. If you are under 30, you can get a Working Holiday Visa which will let you stay up to a year and work in NZ. This will give you time to find a company that will sponsor you so you can get a longer work Visa.

Yes I know, I'm actually learning english , and my intership will be in english :) In belgium most people work in english ( in IT), so I think it won't be a problem ( but I'll be more careful, thanks :) )

Here in Belgium it's really different :o I think that I won't be stressed about my degree level anymore :)
