Ok so im getting a laptop for my bday and I am flatting and i dont have a phone line yet....... plus i will b moving soon, I want to be able to download heaps of stuff and surf the net (a few gigs a month) at a reasonable speed without the hassle of wires so I want wireless broadband.........

BUT.... what company do I use? e.g. xtra wireless broadband?

How much is it? i.e. who is the best for the best price?

HELP YOU TECCHIES OUT THERE! i need help!!!

Where are you living? Woosh could be an alternative for you depending on which city you are located.

Ahhh... and just based on that, you have no choice but woosh... Only that will allow you to move around and pay a relatively cheap price for downloads! Other wireless alternatives will cost you through the roof for a few Gbs per month (more than 3gb)

Unless..... You're planning to stay in urban areas in Auckland or wellington (the main city center). You MAY get wi-fi internet then...

In Wellington you have the option of WiMax from one provider. Using Wi-Fi would not be possible because most access points are just around the CBD and have limited range - also it would cost a fortune - unless yo have a Telecom Mobile Broadband account in which case you could use Telecom Wi-Fi Hotspots for free.

Yes, I think you should check Woosh if available in your area.

WiFi is a networking technology, like the ethernet cables, but without the wires. It's for connecting computers on a local area network, unlike other technologies such as Woosh's WCDMA or WiMax which are for wide areas instead.
