I've recently replaced my old broken modem with a Linksys WAG54G2 ADSL2+ wirless modem and am now looking to get ADSL2+ speeds.

Been with WXC on the River plan for the last 4 years and get reasonable speeds (5Mb/s) - I'm only about 500m from Courtney Place exch.  Probably average between 5Gb and 10Gb traffic a month.

Contacted WXC and they said that the only way that I can get ADSL2+ is by moving onto Fusion, which I don't want to do because I'd need additional hardware.

I've been happy with WxC but it looks like I'll need to move to another provider. Don't particularly want to go back to Telecom because of the 12month contract and hefty $199 cancellation even though I don't need a modem.

Currently have home line/calling and mobiles with Telecom so ideally only want to move broadband.

Can anyone suggest another provider who delivers a good ADSL2+ service at a reasonable price but doesn't lock you into a 12/24 month contract with $$$ cancellation fees?

Cheers,
J.

Slingshot is updating there plans at the end of this month, I think some other ISP's will be doing so at the same time.

Orcon might have a good option too as they are expanding their network in Wellington.

What don't you use a Wellington Cable service? Citylink?

Thanks for the Slingshot info.

This is partly the reason I don't want to sign up for a 12 month contract  - it seems like the ISP offerings could be changing quite a bit over the next little while.

Unfortunately we are in a flat/townhouse complex that isn't on the TCL cable network - otherwise I'd definitely be into that.  Do citylink offer residential products?

I've looked at Orcon's LLU on the C Place exchange but am a bit hesitant to transfer all my services across when some comments I've read on Forums suggest the service might be a bit patchy.  We also use Telecoms 0161 for international calling which is a lot cheaper than Orcon international calling plans.  (8c to Uk vs 25c)

Cheers,
J.

Yeah, orcons rates totally suck, and if you are cursed with the orcon+ network they have you trapped since apparantly they dont have to offer other telcos access like telecom do.

Slingshot have just announced a massive new cache thing which was announced about the time my connection went from bad to worse, even with it turned off. I would give them some time to settle before you consider them.

I wouldn't bother with Orcons new network, they charge far too much and the monthly data is poor in comparison.

I heard Xtra's unlimited plan did not have any contracts?
