Hello Everyone

this is my first Forum ever, so I am a beginner. my question is: I have installed a Sata Raid 1 on my computer (win pro sp2), however I want to change the setup to have just a single drive, no raid at all, is it possible to do that without having to reinstall the whole thing again??????

Depending on the motherboard, the raid chip used, you can set in the bios to break the RAID-1 to individual drives (as mentioned in this post. However, for minimal fuss, best do a backup (to external media, like CD/DVD or external hdd) using Windows Backup with full ERD (to floppy) or if no floppy drive, do full backup.

And if the RAID-1 is broken, it may or may not cause data loss. If it does lose its data, then do a full restore using the backup you made above. If no floppy drive, do a mininal Windows XP installation, then do a restore from this installation. Don't worry about fully install all apps as you will restore from the full backup which will overwrite everything anyhow. [Tip: some people had said that it is best that you do minimal installation of the edition you backup from, i.e. if you made a full backup of Windows XP SP2, then try reinstall the minimal system to Windows XP SP2 to avoid any conflict.)
