I'm looking for a solution to give me street maps on my E61i (of New Zealand). One requirement is that I should be able to download maps to the phone, so that I don't have to access maps over GPRS while I drive (too expensive!).

I found http://www.mgmaps.com/, but this doesn't support Google Maps (the maps they do support don't seem to have NZ coverage at street level).

http://j2memap.landspurg.net/ doesn't support storing maps on the phone (so expensive data charges).

Any ideas? Thanks.

MGMaps will still support downloaded ie cached map tiles from Google, it is only the on-line support that has been removed and even then, he has added a custom setting that can be configured to Google if needed.

As you specifically want off-line maps, just download the latest version of MGMaps and also ver 1.3 of the MGMaps Cache here
and you should read through this topic first, in particular, take note of the need to hide the map tiles from the system to avoid memory issues.

Cheers,

Pat
