Hello all;

I have a Cassiopeia EM-500 pocket PC and I wanted to start using it to log on and check email, etc instead of lugging my laptop around everywhere. So, I checked with the manufacturer regarding processor type and compatibility and purchased a SPECTEC WLAN-11b SD card. The problem at hand is the fact that this card does not work with CE 3.0. Does anyone know how I can upgrade my OS to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition or Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC; in other words anything that will make this work?? Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough, but I can't seem to find anything :-( Please help!!

Sorry, the Casiopeia run Windows CE and cannot run Windows Mobile 2003 or newer. Your best option is a more modern PDA.

Unfortunately the answer is no.

With early Windows CE based products Microsoft let developers choose from MIPS or ARM processors. Casio chose to use the MIPS processors which were not supported from early 2002 onwards when Pocket PC 2002 was released.

How much did you pay for the wireless card? You can pick up a far newer PDA for ~$100ish on Trade Me - that Cassiopeia came out around 2000-2001ish.

Hey, Mauricio and sbiddle; thank you very much for your response...it all makes much more sense now. I think I will purchase either a newer PDA or a Smartphone where I could not only use it as a telephone, but when properly equipped, can run and edit Microsoft Office documents as well as weblink via wireless LAN. As for the wireless card it cost a reasonable $25.00 USD when I bought it one month ago.
