Hi, apologies if this has already been discussed but I can't find it.

We have a new PABX VOIP phone system in the office so I need to have my Outlook contacts with the country code included, so local cellphones are now showing as +64027xxxxxxx (they used to just be 027xxxxxxx).

The Telecom Okta Touch phones now allow plus code dialing (unlike the old Apache) so I can synch with my phone and outgoing calls from the Okta Touch work fine (it strips the zero off so it dials as +6427xxxxxxx). Great.

But when I try to send a text message from the Touch, it tries to send to +64027xxxxxxx (i.e. it doesn't remove the zero). And it gives an error "Text message cannot be sent".

Anyone know how I can get text messaging to strip the extra zero, or any other ideas?

Thanks,
Andrew.

I understand voice calls seem to go throug when you have +64027 - but it shouldn't really.

The SMS application is correct. The phone number is actually +6427. The 0 is just an access code for long distance calls, it's not part of the number. When using the full number there's no place for this 0 there.

So - fix the contacts, make sure they don't have the 0.

Hmm, that is kind of obvious. Thanks Maricio.

I guess because it was able to strip off the zero when dialing I didn't think too much.

Cheers.
