MS had an exemption in place for these for a while, not sure if it still applies but certainly when my out-of-warranty original 360 needed work on an RROD last year they took care of it.
Usually it's just the power supply so they send a new one out, if not then you have to send your console to them and they send it back good as new - with another 12 months warranty too :)
sthrn1: thats all fine but its in NZ and well out of warranty.
It doesn't matter. Just call/email Xbox support and they'll sort it for you. Either you didn't read what I said or just skimmed but it was EXEMPT from warranty.
They extended the warranty to 3 years for rrod and e74 errors. But as far as I know that has finished now as it's not ment to happen on the later consoles.
I am a electronics repair tech and I bought my xbox with rrod before the extended warranty came in.
Send me a pm or email alexleov@gmail.com if you would like me to fit it.
