Hi I have been trying to find out if I can set up 2 different passwords for my home wifi router
It is a Vodafone Home Gateway HG659
It has same password for WLAN 2.4 GHZ & WLAN 5 GHZ and I am wanting two separate pass words
1 for the 5 ghz and 1 for the 2.4 ghz if possible so the kids can only log on to the 2.4 Ghz and not slow the wifi down whIle I work from home

If having 2 separate passwords is not possible could somebody please suggest different options

make them 2 different names and you should be able to have a password for each network

2.4GHz + 5GHz is best on the same SSID, and the same password so devices can get the best of both worlds.

unless you have an unusually large amount of wifi devices you shouldn't notice slowdowns

what internet plan are you on? might it be worth upgrading as this could be your problem

Yes it can and loads of information online how to action this! The HG659 is a very common modem / router

Just login to the user interface and go into WLAN / Wi-Fi settings

because without band steering or deliberately turning down 2.4ghz, this can create a worse user experience for your average Joe.
