Hi there,

Not new to the GZ forums but this is my first post. I have a issue I can't get my head around. Would appreciate some suggestions.

I have a computer in a small network which seems to loose WAN connectivity every two hours or so. It can recieve emails from the exchange server which is in the LAN access shared drives etc but just won't open a web page or use any web applications. Its in a SBS environment and ICS doesn't show any problems. I think its the NIC card because when I disable and enable the NIC the connection will come back for 2 hours and then drop the WAN connection. Same with unplugging cable from the wall and plugging it back in.

I turned off windows firewall, turned off windows defender, A/V, removed from domain, reinstalled NIC and reversed driver updates still the connection will last 2 hours and drop. Its a SIS 900 PCI ethernet adapter.

I just wanted to see if anyone had a suggestions? I can't find a similar issue. No other node is effected.

Next step is to go onsite and replace the NIC card.

Thanks

Is it exactly two hours? If so, it could be a power management issue with the NIC (ie, going to sleep).

If not, then a $20 NIC may be your easiest answer. Is the hardware in this machine the same as others in the network?

Hi Trig

Thanks. This is going to do my head in FML. I have replaced the NIC. Have checked all the settings power save etc.

Its not two hours on the dot its more like every 30 mins to 1 hour it varies. The strange thing is it can talk to the exchange server recieve/send emails. Wont respond to ping. No internet. ISA wont show me any problems.

Its the strangest thing. I don't know im at a loss.
