Hi, All.

I have recently been gifted one of these.  I have not owned a GPS unit (automotive) before.  Clearly, they have some idiosynchrasies.

I have spoken to Navman Support as it seemed odd to me that it has to be independently switched on and off (on the unit, itself) rather than it turning on when the ignition is turned on (and likewise, off).

In reality, (they said) the unit has to be plugged in via the cigartette lighter / accessory jack all the time, to ensure it remains charged up as it only lasts for 1.5 hours without charging.

Does anyone know a setting that can be changed or a workaround to enable the unit to turn on when the vehicle ignition turns on, and off when the igbnition is switched off?

Any ideas, helpful.

Cheers.

Can the battery be taken out and it run with only 12V?

Is power on your car actually switched? My Toyota is, my VW is not.

Hi, Niel.

No, the battery cannot be taken out, and I may lose data, even if it could. Yes, both cars that the unit is in have cigarette lighter sockets / jacks that are on, only when the ignition is on or in he accessory position.

Cheers

Some of them turn off after 20 minutes of no external power, auto on when power applied. But looks like it is only some of the MY series, not the Ezy series. A lot of people on forums complaining that Navman is the only GPS they have ever had that does not auto turn on/off.
