I have just got a 60gb Video Ipod.

I used to have a 60 GB photo ipod but just upgraded to the video one. On my old photo ipod I had no troubles using it on both my mac and my p.c.

It always worked without a problem but now for some reason i can use it on my p.c. but when i go to use it on my mac all the music i transfer is corrupted and freezes the ipod up.

I hope I am explaining myself clearly but it is really annoying.....all of my music is on my mac at home but i like to be able to use my P.C. at work to get podcasts and that typr of thing as it is much quicker.

is there a reason I can no longer use it on both formats? It never used to be a problem.

if anyone can help that would be awesome!

thanks

Can you be more specific about what happens when you connect it to the Mac? Does it bring up an error message? Does the iPod appear in the list of sources in iTunes? At exactly what point during the transfer process does the iPod 'freeze' and what appears on its display when this happens?

What type of Mac is it and what version of OS X is it running? What version of iTunes are you using?

It's very difficult to diagnose a problem of this nature without having this sort of information.

hey thanks for responding.

Here is what happens.

I have booted up my ipod...like the inital set up using windows as in the past with my old ipods when i have done that i have been able to switch the ipod between p.c. and mac without a problem.

but what is happening is i can get videos, music and podcasts of my p.c. no problams but when i transfer music over using my mac everything runs sweet...it reads my ipod..it lets drag the music over but once i eject my pod and try to play the music thats when it all falls to pieces

the album, artist and artwork etc etc comes up on the screen as it should but it justs skips to the next song without playing it then the next song skips and the next one and so on and so on.....then the whole thing freezes and i can't get back to the menu unless i push the menu button about 10 times. I took it inot the local apple dealer place where i live and he said he had never seen anything like that before

i am thinking that maybe it is the way i dragged my itunes library over. i did it in one move...i highlighted everything....all 5000 songs at once...maybe i should do it in smaller batches? maybe it isn't liking getting hit with 5000+ songs at once??

This is a tricky one, and might be better answered on a specialised Mac forum such as macrumors.com.

The only thing that I can suggest is that you try to isolate the problem by reformatting the whole iPod, and then transfer small batches of content from both the PC and the Mac and see if the problem occurs consistently.
