At my company we run an exchange server. So with the addition of exchange to 2.0 we have user with Iphones wanting to get their work email. I have had 3 people so far wanting me to set them up. One of them set up with out an issue and the other two won't validate the certificate. Here is my thought so if someone can please confirm or deny it for me I would apperiacte it. Also a way around it would be great.

The one phone that works was updated on a mac. The other two on PCs. We require ssl version 2. Is it possible that the mac had and or passed along the correct version where the pc didn't?

If i am off base please say so. Also any advice on a solution would be great.

When you say "updated on a Mac" do you mean loaded the Exchange Server ceritificate on the phone?

I read in a couple of places that the iPhone would notify you the certificate is invalid and would ask if you want to accept it. At this point I will leave the discussion to some other Apple iPhone users since my experience with the Exchange ActiveSync is on Windows Mobile.

It was updated to version 2.0 firmware. WHen i enter the information it just tells me it failed.

See ifyou can add another email account to your iphone, pop or imap perhaps, email the certificate to that account and open the attachment within the iphone. it will then ask to install the certificate. remove that account, create your exchange account and it should use the new certificate. hope that helps

Is it possible to open to the exchange address in Safari and accept/save the certificate? This was the only way I managed to get mine going. As Mail.app on the Iphone couldn't save the certificate after I created the account.

No idea if this is of help but:

When you enter your e-mail address to sync, your device may warn you about a certificate being invalid. This is particularly likely if you use a GMail address. It isn't referring to our certificate or our service, so don't be concerned. It is part of Apple's auto-configuration feature as it tries to guess the appropriate server name based on your info. Our SSL certificate is valid and secure.
