Hi all,

I've just spent the last half an hour searching the web getting confused by the results for my questions- I'm trying to find a way of recording in game footage from my iPhone 4 so that I can upload it to my windows computer. Is this possible without illegally jailbreaking? If so, how do I go about it?

Thanks!

I don't think people are understanding your question.
What do you mean by 'in game footage'?
Have you video recorded a game on your phone?
Are you watching YouTube clips?
Are you streaming some net content somehow?

Or is your iPhone a chinese HiFone and you're watching TV on it?

i think he just wants to record his awesomeness at angry birds or fragger or something, and then upload the clips (of him aceing the game - a bit like the Halo footage that people upload) to youtube to brag. yeah i have been wondering how to do that. does anyone know?

um have you considered using VNC and doing the screen capture from your pc/mac?

yes i am referring to vnc from your pc/mac TO the iphone (not the other way round)

can be done without jailbreaking but i can not imagine why would one not want to jailbreak in the first place

Yep, Joker97 is correct. I'm trying to record a track I created on the game application 'line rider' so that I can save it to my PC.

I have fairly little knowledge of both the iPhone and jailbreaking, but was let to understand that if I jailbroke it- it would void the warranty. I'm pretty happy with how it is at the moment.

khull- could you please explain a little more about VNC to me? I havn't heard of it before. Does it allow me to capture a video of the screen on my iPhone (as say Fraps and Camtasia do on a PC screen), then save it?

Cheers guys.

You will mirror what is displayed on your iPhone screen on your desktop. you can then use something like Camtasia to record it

Is this what you are talking about? http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vnc-viewer/id352019548?mt=8;uo=6

As far as I can see, all it does is emulate your PC screen on your iPod, not the other way around?? Am I missing something?

No.  They're talking about jailbreaking and installing VNC on the iPhone to view it from the desktop.  Is this possible without jailbreaking?  No.  Even using Xcode and a device in what passes for developer mode, you can only take static screenshots.
